Into the Sun
“You call, I run. Dark days and find the sun. I don’t care how far. Just wait, dawn.”
Warning!: None really, fluff, inaccuracy of MV, reader is an idol Summary: You knew what it was like in Taehyung's world and the secrets that had to be kept. But what about when he wants to stop hiding? Pairing: Kim Taehyung x idol!reader Words: 2.4k Quick Notes: Y’all, I’ve been in Vegas for BTS D-3 and holy- was it so magical. I’ve been a fan for 10+ years now and that was my first concert for them, so I was super inspired to write this drabble. I’m also Jungkook/V biased. (Series part is coming out soon!)
“Hey, you made it!!!” He runs up and pulls you into his arms even though he’s in the middle of getting changed. The other members giggle and shake their heads lovingly at his reaction. “How was the flight? When did you get in?”
You pull back slightly but his hands rest on your waist. “I came in about noon today, but had to get my stuff to our room. Manager was waiting for me when I got to the hotel. The flight was good too.”
He gives you a peck on your forehead, “I’m glad everything went well. I’m just excited for you to see us perform.”
The last time you were able to see Taehyung and the BTS member perform was their last concert before enlistment. Four years ago. Four years of video calls to stay in touch, four years of countdowns, and years of wishing you could be in the crowd supporting them again. Now the reality set in and sat heavy on your chest. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, but not like their Arirang comeback tour. ARMY’s showed up and sold out so many shows. Everyone cared about their return and still supported them after all this time.
“And I’m excited too.”
“You sure you’re gonna be okay out there? I don’t want mine or your fans getting in the way. I mean, we can switch your seats into the boxes instead of the first row on the rails. Oh! Or we can-”
You gently put your finger over his lips, “No, I’ll be perfectly fine, Tae. I am perfectly disguised as just another ARMY.”
You did a slow twirl, letting Taehyung see that you are dressed up as him in his iconic “Boy In Luv” MV outfit. The era always held a special place in your heart. You had met BTS around that time after appearing in their MV as the person they fought over. At that time, your own group was preparing for their debut. Ever since then, the boys welcomed you with open arms, friendships and bonds formed, and your feelings for Taehyung became more than you ever expected.
He smiled at you warmly. “Okay, but don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the staff. Or me when we’re in intermissions.”
“I know,” you give him one big hug as a staff member called thirty minutes till showtime. You whisper to him, “Knock them out, tiger.”
He gives you one big squeeze. “You know it.”
You both kissed for a moment, hesitant to let each other go. Taehyung felt nervous but in your arms, he felt secure and calm. You pulled away from the kiss and leaned your head on his shoulder, melting into the hug. There was no need for more words. You rubbed his back gently as he buried his head in the crook of your neck, breathing in your scent. After a minute, you broke apart and began making your way out. You waved behind the boys and wished them each good luck. Taehyung’s eyes never leave your figure as you’re escorted out.
Manager helped you back out into the stadium, worried someone might recognize you. It took a bit to finally reassure him you’d be okay. You were able to roam around freely, grabbing a drink and some freebies from fans while also giving some of your own away. During some interactions, it seemed that fans tried to recognize you but couldn’t quite seem to place where they had seen you before. You eventually made it down to your seat right in front of the railing, close to the floor but not on it. You took some pictures from your seat, posing with your ARMY Bomb and some cute ones of you. You sent them to Taehyung for him to see later. ARMY’s started to do a series of waves and chatted with one another, filling the entire stadium. It was truly magical to see again. You were surprised at how freeing it felt to just be another fan and not a performer. Not long after, the background music picked up as a man ran from a corner to the stage holding a red smoking flare. Everyone got out of their seats and prepared for BTS.

You knew Tae couldn’t see you from the stage as they performed. At least, that’s what you thought. As “they don’t know ‘bout us” started, Taehyung made his way towards your section, looking up and lingering a little too long. It felt like he was staring right at you. Despite thousands of other people around, he had found you.
His gaze never left yours as he sang, “I can show you love, I can show you. If you wanna know me, what can I do for you? They keep asking just what was so different. I answer, I don’t know either.”
You could only hear his voice. You listened and watched. It felt like it was just the two of you in a stadium full of people. The stadium disappeared. The screaming fans, the music, the flashing lights. All of it faded until there was only him. He sent a smile and a small wave your way. You grinned back, sending him a kiss. He caught it out of the air and sent his own. You caught it as well. Taehyung slowly walked backwards, reluctant to break eye contact.
Knowing where you were, Taehyung made his way to your section every so often just to see you again and again. You could see the members tease him about it as they crossed paths with him. But he didn’t care. He wanted to see you having fun. Wanted to see that look on your face as if he hung the stars in the sky himself. You were singing and dancing along to each song, knowing their discography like the back of your hand. Late nights in the studio with them had its perks.
As they took their first break, you were sitting watching the graphics and videography when a buzz came from your phone. You took it out to see a message back from Taehyung:
You: [PHOTO]
Taetae🐯: I hope you liked part 1. I think part 3 is gonna be your favorite <3
You were confused. They were barely halfway through. What was he planning? You immediately text back:
You: Huh? You: What do you mean Tae?
Your message was left unanswered but seen. Suddenly, a strange feeling settled in your stomach. I have the perfect plan. A conversation from three months ago came rushing back.
—
Three months earlier
“I don’t know, Tae…I mean, you’ve seen how other idol relationship announcements have gone. Especially boy group ones. Do you remember how long it took for Chen to post a picture of his wife? I practically had to convince him after he spent hours debating whether he should.” You set your chopsticks on your side dish as you look at Taehyung, who just finished a large bite of his ramen.
“Yeah, I remember. But you know our fans are different.”
“I don’t think you realize how scary ARMY can be.”
“That’s because they care for us. They’re the ones who brought us from the ground up. Sure, they can be a bit much sometimes, but they always mean well. And they’ve always liked you!” He looks at you, trying to put on his best convincing face.
“Yeah, as ‘BTS’s best friend.’ Not ‘Kim Taehyung’s significant other.’”
“Baby, it’s just an additional title,” he grabs your hand gently, “and you know you are way more than just someone attached to us.”
“But that’s the thing. What if I just become another attachment to you? What if ARMY turns on me, or god forbid you? It can either be an ‘I took your guys’ man away’ or ‘you betrayed ARMY.’”
He crosses his arms over his chest. “I don’t think you’re giving them enough credit.”
“And I don’t think you’re thinking without rose colored glasses.”
There’s a brief yet tense silence. You both look at each other, feeling a little lost.
Taehyung sighs deeply as he shifts in his seat, uncrossing his arms and finding your hand again. “I just…I don’t want to hide you anymore. I want to be able to show you off like any normal couple. I don’t want to make it seem like I’m ashamed of you or our relationship because I’m not.” Your eyes soften. “I just want ARMYs to know how much I care for you and love you. Whether that brings negative haters or positive fans.”
You take a moment to collect your own thoughts before speaking again. “I know, Tae. I’m just…scared I guess. Idols have been ruined for less and I can’t do that to you.”
“And what about you?”
You blink at him. “What about me?”
“What do you want? Do you want to keep hiding this? Us?”
You look away for a moment. “I want to be able to love you publicly,” you look back to him, “but I don’t think it’s that simple for us.” “And why not? Don’t we deserve love? Don’t we deserve a happy life together?” His brown orbs pierce yours.
You nod slowly, “Yeah, we do.”
“Then let’s do it. Let’s officially go public.” He perks up.
“When would we do it?”
“Mmm, social media seems too disingenuous.” He sits there, thinking for a hard couple of minutes before looking back at you with a large smile on his face. “Do you trust me?”
You look at him, confused. “Something is telling me not to.”
He chuckled at your reaction, “I’m serious. Do you trust me?”
“With everything I have,” you answer immediately.
“Then wait a little longer. I have the perfect plan.”

The memory lingered as the stage lit up again. You stared at your phone a moment longer. There was absolutely no way. Taehyung wouldn’t do that. Right?
As the concert continued, you found yourself watching him closely. Differently. Every smile seemed more meaningful, every glance felt charged, and with every appearance at your section, he seemed to become more smug. You narrowed your eyes. He grinned.
The stadium glowed purple as they were coming to the end of the concert. The ARMY bombs swayed like a thousand stars. The unwavering commitment from ARMYs even four years later was prevalent in the air. You stood against the railing as you have all night. You were there. Together. Watching and waiting.
The members began their speeches thanking ARMY, laughing, crying, and promising more for their future. Each person in the crowd cheered on the members. Eventually, the microphone made its way to Taehyung. The cheers were deafening and your heart clenched tightly as you leaned in.
He looked around the stadium at all the lights before him. “So,” he started, smiling shyly. ARMY started screaming. He laughed nervously into the mic. “See? This is why I’m nervous.”
The members rubbed and patted his back, encouraging him to continue. You laughed to yourself.
“There are a lot of people here tonight that I want to thank.” His gaze drifted over the audience. “Of course, I want to thank you, ARMY. You’ve waited a long time for us.” The crowd erupted in cheers. His voice softened “And you’ve always given each of us so much love through the years. Even ones we couldn’t be here on stage.”
A series of “awes” echoed. Something about his tone made your stomach twist. You knew that voice. The one he would use when he was about to say something important. Something honest and dangerous.
He smiled through his nervousness, “There is also someone else I want to thank specifically.” Your heart dropped. This was it.
The giant screens zoomed onto him further. The stadium grew eerily quiet. Taehyung took a deep breath. “This person has been beside me for a long time now and supported me before we became successful.” You felt yourself gripping the rails tightly. “Before all the records, the stadiums, the brand deals. Before we even had the budget to hire them properly for our music video.” His eyes found yours as people began to look in the same direction. You didn’t cower. “They supported me through the most difficult times of my life.”
A murmur spread through the audience. The cameramen were already looking around, one was noticeably accompanied by their manager. Taehyung just smiled warmly, eyes locked onto yours. “Actually, you’ve all known them for years.” The crowd grew confused. “You better know them as BTS’s best friend.” ARMYs exploded, looking everywhere with a purpose. Looking for you.
The camera found you in the crowd, full outfit on and leaning so far in it looked like you were going to fall. The audience screamed louder. As if the moment really hit you, you hid behind your ARMY bomb, face fully flushed red. ARMY only laughed at your reaction. The members were practically falling over themselves. Taehyung couldn’t stop smiling at the whole interaction. “There you are.” You slowly moved the light stick. “Hey, baby.”
The entire stadium roared, losing their minds. Everyone was reacting in their own ways. But Taehyung? He looked happier and more relaxed than you had ever seen him. His eyes never left yours. “I know we usually keep our relationship private, but I’ve spent years hiding someone I am the most proud of. And I don’t want to do that anymore.” His voice betrayed him slightly. “You are one of the best people I’ve ever met. You take care of me,” a stray tear falls down his face, “you make me laugh, you remind me who I am when times get tough and I just want to quit.” Everyone is silent at the confession. The members watch. “And I love you.”
His words echoed through the stadium. Love. There was no room for misunderstandings or uncertainties. He loved you, and everyone knew it. He smiled through his tears. “I love you so deeply.”
The stadium erupted again, cheering, screaming, some people crying around you as you fought through your own tears.
You trusted him, and he gave you more than you could have asked for.
