Theory for Fuyuki and Kazuya's relationship
Danganronpa ultra violet
OK OK SOOO I honestly don't know much about Kazuya's or Fuyuki's characters, like really paid all that attention to it, I just skimmed the voice lines a bit and saw some official arts. As well as some other facts about them, I think? Buuut
I remember one of the creators stating that Kazuya's personal are obviously not excusable, but he isn't exactly a bad person, nor is he a good person. I think that's really interesting. I feel like Kazuya's probably someone who was raised very Christianly, forced to know which was right or wrong, therefore he grew up to learn that way. That doesn't mean that he's a totally good person though, because I believe that even with the knowledge of knowing how bad it is, he continues to act the same way he did. A truly cocky person who thinks highly of himself, but still feels sympathetic for people in a way, due to putting himself first so constantly. Maybe like his whole secret is guilt. Maybe because of his arrogance, he never made a real friend, since he never tried to.
Fuyuki sounds like the complete opposite of Kazuya. Just someone who gets bullied by people a lot and resents them for it. I don't have that much thoughts for him, as much as Kazuya's. However, I do think that the reason why he learns to love Kazuya is because of how much braver he is than him, even with his scumbag personality.
Fuyuki seems like someone who falls for nice things pretty quickly, like give him one single praise and he'll fall for it. Kazuya seems like the guy who'll do that sort of thing, but in a sarcastic manner, this can be seen in the 'who's the most attractive guy' post on the official twitter. I have a feeling that Kazuya slowly starts to like Fuyuki as a friend, someone who doesn't understandably lash out at him. So he starts to feel very happy about that, having a real friend.
For Fuyuki's case, he sees Kazuya much more as a friend, obviously. Just the amount of bravery, and the fact that someone genuinely wants to hangout with him, would probably make him very happy. It doesn't take a lot for someone to fall in love, just something that the person has never received before.
I think that when Kazuya starts to realize this, or if Fuyuki somehow confesses, he'll be disgusted. Being homophobic and all, but I feel like he'll also gain an amount of heavy guilt or awkwardness too. This can be seen in one of the official arts, where both of Fuyuki's and Kazuya's picture fit together, however Kazuya just looks grossed out. However, he isn't angry. Why? Besides that it could just be the art style, it's really surprising to me that Kazuya isn't like straight up pissed. Like any other stereotypical misogynist, homophobic guy. Fuyuki's probably going to be one of his closest friend throughout the entire game, cause no one likes assholes, so I think that the whole guilt thing plays into that. He can't just cut off their friendship or anything, otherwise he'll be all alone again. Like some homeless, drunk guy yelling at people walking by. He feels too attached to Fuyuki, but not enough to not be disgusted by him.
I have a feeling that Kazuya surprisingly just lets Fuyuki feel the same way, not wanting to ruin their close friendship. My reason for this is the puzzle artwork again.
Looking closely, they both look awkward, however Kazuya looks the most uncomfortable. Fuyuki is more flustered. I see it as if he's waiting for something, like for Kazuya to make a move or something. Not being aware that Kazuya doesn't intend to do any of that in the slightest. In a way, it actually looks like Kazuya's scared, like he's grossed out but still doesn't want to let Fuyuki go. Even if he's hurting Fuyuki in the process, just for the sake of saving himself, he'll do anything. I think it really shows how selfish he is.
Fuyuki doesn't really look like he's all that aware of it, like he's just flustered and confused. Waiting.
Another thing I'd like to note is that Kazuya is actually leaning away from Fuyuki a lot more than whatever Fuyuki's doing. Maybe I'm just looking at the details wayyy too much, but I think it really confirms a one-sided relationship in a way.
