》 Alright, well, that's way more up-close-and-personal than I'd EVER like to be with one of these big ass worms...
》 Discovered a planet simply called 'Evil'. I almost passed it by, but curiosity got the better of me, y'know? Yeah.
》 BIG SUNFLOWERS!! Glowin' water! This place is fiiiine- if not a little stinky.
》 Ah. I see.
》 AH. I SEE.
》 There are also these funky... plants??
[ A pause, some shuffling, followed by an alarm and Telamon's voice, 'WARNING: SENTINEL DRONES ACTIVATED.' ]
》 AHHH DON'T TOUCH THEM DON'T DO THAT OKAY YUP GOT IT I GOT IT--
-{{ NMS name generation, my beloved }}-
[ An update comes from Onfim's long-dead broadcast channel. It is unclear if the feed is live or pre-recorded. Aside from a note of clear exhaustion, his voice carries its usual bravado. ]
》 Hey gang! Long time no see- looks like some new folks around these days. I've been busy with... well. Y'all don't really need to worry about what I've been up to.
》 Check out this ship! It's ugly as all hell and I built it with my own two hands. I adore this thing. Once I'm back home from.. -kkzzzkt- ..'ll be finding ways to speed this baby up. Maybe refine the shape...
》 I'm used to not really fitting in places, but being straight-up unwelcome at every turn is some new territory. Even for outlaws like me!
I gotta say though, despite spending a lot of my free time running from Sentinels, I've never felt quite so free.
》 This derelict was miiiserableee. Projectiles that ricochet are really great until they totally fuckin' aren't. Valuable les.. -kzzkt- ..esson learned.
I still feel gross!! -zzkt- ..Won't be back on my own freighter for a while, I think I oughta quarantine...
》 You - You.. -zzzkt- ..You good, mate?
》 The - the - the weather.. -zzkt- ..-eather here is goddamn horrible. I love it.
Onfim pauses, and speaks again under their breath.
》 The d-.. -kzzk- ..day I see any light - light - lightning, though, I'm out.
They shudder.
-{{ A brief video broadcast goes out, unknowingly filmed and sent by a drone. }}-
For a paradise planet, the air on Guchu 33/E3 is terrifyingly still. Despite the hush in the atmosphere, interference clogs the feed. Onfim and Kestrel shuffle about in the background, packing supplies and sending orders out to their respective crews.
》 Yes - just stay far ... om that moon -
The video focuses instead on Raskol, who warily paces Station 256 as their companions finish preparations - alert, on guard. If they remain focused, there is no room for fear.
》 Raskol? You ready?
Tonight, the trio will step through a portal in a galaxy that barely exists, to an ultraviolet moon from which they may never return.
》 ...Yes.
》 Onfim, are you about ready?
Raskol paces between two exocraft - a Nomad and a Pilgrim, loading each up with ammo, spare supplies, parts, and repair kits. They seem unwilling or unable to keep still; even as they settle, stand in place, they shift their weight uneasily from one foot to the other.
Onfim stands on the front deck of their Broadcast Site, fiddling with the security tech he had hastily installed the evening before.
》 Yeah, just making sure the monitors are good to go after that interference last night. Messed with some of the sensors.
Onfim finishes his work, checks in quickly with Kestrel, and jogs over to the makeshift exocraft bay. Beneath his helmet, he cocks an eyebrow at his elder sibling.
》 Are you, like... alright? You've been acting bizarre since this morning. Real jittery.
》 I feel - I don't know. Strange. Like there are others always over my shoulder. You don't feel it?
This anxiety from Raskol was probably the strangest thing to him. He truly didn't expect the 'message' in the interference to rattle them so much.
》 I mean, yeah - this place gives me the fuckin' creeps, that interference we got last night was... strange, but I don't know about all that.
If this was an attempt at comfort, it wasn't a good one. Raskol sighs, opens the cockpit of their Nomad.
》 No matter, I suppose. It'll pass. Come on - I don't want to keep Tulos and Omn waiting out here.
》 Alright, once we're past these hills, it's just a straight and easy shot northwest to their landing site.
The engines flare to life as the Twin-Iterations enter their respective exocraft, and are off like a shot over the steep hills which fence in their base camp, out into the steadier, ghost-empty and glass-loud plains.
Unaware of what may have gone on earlier, Raskol attempts to send a transmission on the way.
》 Tulosnodons, Raskol here - Onfim and I are heading to your old camp. If we beat you here, we will await your arrival and keep watch. We have a few spare supplies if there is anything you are low on, as well.
