Summary:

Mikaela Hyakuya was a boy who was told he was a gift from the heavens by his parents. He was always expected to do more, to be more. Sadly, the boy felt he was nothing of the sorts.

One day, while on a drive with his parents, Mikaela was thrown out the car. He watched as the crumpled car burned through half closed eyes as he heard the sirens in the distance come closer. He knew he was breathing in smoke but he couldn't move, he couldn't bring himself to care for his parents lives.

He was found with no injuries other than a few scrapes to every doctor's surprise. He was the only survivor to what he came to learn was a murder suicide attempt. He would be sent to an orphanage where he met Akane and many other orphans who he came to call family.

With a new addition to the family being an angry boy named Yuuichirou and getting captured by vampires as an apocalypse raged on around them how will Mikaela deal with his mask slowly breaking as he tries to keep his small family happy while living as livestock?

Hey, I’m just bringing this back since people seemed to really like the excerpt I posted for this a while back, but then it never got read by a lot of the mikayuu fandom??? Like, 11 kudos??? Anyway, here’s my rewrite of ons s1 but if the orphans survived with Yuu somehow. Also I don’t think it was showing up in the right tags ever. T~T I’m really proud of this please give it a try.

Excerpt :

“It’ll- it’ll be okay now, I think,” Akane spoke, casting her eyes downward as she avoided looking at Yuu. Probably because on his face was a mirror of the grief she was trying to deal with. Yuu didn’t blame her, if the way he swallowed reflexively to hold back the tears at the sight of the grief on her face was anything to go by. He cast his eyes downwards too, afraid of accidentally meeting her gaze should she look up. He nodded, because he knew that she was right. That maybe, someday, just like how he’d gradually become okay with had happened with his parents, more or less due to Mika’s and the other’s efforts, he could become okay with what had happened. Maybe they could all find a way to be okay along with everyone, again. Maybe someday they’d be able to think of Mika, of the color of his eyes, the way he smiled or how he sounded when he laughed, of everything that made him him, and they’d be able to do it with a smile.

“I know,” he mumbled, his voice not quite sounding like his own to his ears. They both went silent as they closed their eyes and willed sleep to come, in whatever form it would. Soon, Yuu was dead to the world, blissful, blissful black enveloping his vision as he fell into an exhausted, dreamless sleep.
