I feel like I need to share this because idk if Europeans are familiar with the presence of Aldi in the US, but at least especially in my area theyâve been growing a lot recently. Like Aldi bought out some local failing grocery chains where I live (Louisiana) and have opened Aldis in all these somewhat rural communities and small towns, which for the record Iâm fine with
But as a result of this they are advertising a lot more in my area and also in many cases, the people in these areas have never been confronted with Aldi or any European grocery store. So the ads that Aldi is pushing out to its new US customer base feature a cowboy shopping at Aldi who is explaining to new Aldi customers how Aldi works. Like this cowboy is explaining you gotta put a quarter in the shopping cart and why there are very little name brands. A cowboy is how they want to reach their American customer base. They gave us a cowboy
Here he is, the Aldi Cowboy
donghua gets points from me because this is such an unbelievably cunt way to introduce your protagonist
reading a negative review of something you love written by a person who very clearly didnât understand it at all
reading a positive review of something you love written by a person who very clearly didnât understand it at all
Reading a negative review of something you hate by someone who very clearly didn't understand it at all and hates it for the wrong reasons
So I follow N. D. Stevenson (comics writer and animator, most famous for Nimona and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) and his husband Lee Ostertag (also a comics writer and animator) on Instagram. When I started following them, they were both publicly presenting as women, and then a few years ago N. D. came out as transmasc nonbinary, and then earlier this year Lee also came out as transmasc. Anyway this is all setup to say that Lee had the chance to make the funniest post of all time and he took it:
Absolutely iconic.
I want to throw in that part of the context behind this meme was N.D. talking about how he sometimes gets hatemail for marrying a man as a former lesbian, and how many people seem to think he divorced his wife.
I have not managed to find anyone who thinks that in the wild, but it is so damn funny.
[ID: a Bluesky thread between ND Stevenson and Lee Ostertag. Stevenson's original post reads, "Latest strain of out-of-touch Instagram comment has been ugh of COURSE you'd end up with a man and like, TAKE IT UP WITH HIM HE'S THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO TURN INTO ONE". Ostertag's reply reads, "Omg are they saying I pass đ ". Stevenson's response reads, "LEE HELP YOURE DOING TOO GOOD A JOB THEY THINK I DUMPED MY WIFE FOR YOU". /end ID]
Love shen yuan because he's like "I don't belong in this world, I cant see the people around me as real human beings because I know their fates, I can't spend two minutes thinking about my life or the family I'll never see again or the abused slave who owns this body and should have gotten a chance at life, I'm 100% sure I will be one day tortured to death by my own disciple, when people try to protect me i see myself as a burden and give myself up. I'm also not allowed to be gay but it's not because of all those tragic things it's because being gay is weirdddd"
Shen "I used to let my bros touch and grope me wherever they want but now that I've been kissed by a man I have to be WOKE" yuan
really i think the most insidious part of white supremacy is the way it will convince white people everything is actually About Them. being called out isnât about you. poc expressing frustration at your behaviour isnât about you. itâs about how you are affecting others. step one is literally just de-centre yourself from the conversation. anyone whoâs not white has already had to learn this lesson the hard way and it gets tiring waiting for the rest of you to catch up
âHua Cheng didnât respond, only bowed his head slightly and gently lifted Xie Lianâs chin so they could touch foreheads.â

The crazy thing is, ninety-nine times out of a hundred, if you asked me on any given day "Would like to see a picture of some genitals?" my answer would be "đ° No, that's... No, thank you. I'm okay, actually." I have nothing but the utmost respect for people who do engage with the penis side of the internet, but personally, I've spent the better part of two decades doing all I can NOT to have pictures of dick and balls or sexy bikini babe buttcheeks blasted onto my retinas constantly. And yet... to be denied the penis? To have a jumped up pile of javascript tell me, a grown adult with an air fryer and an outstanding council tax bill, that I cannot be trusted to withstand the sight of a bare nipple unless I let it scan my drivers' license? I will move heaven and earth to see that fucking nipple, friend. I will walk a thousand miles barefoot on hot coals before I give you big brother bitches my passport number. A thousand miles through the desert with five VPNs just to press my face up against the glass and see the last uncensored picture of two My Little Pony Characters sixty-nining each other, and I don't even want! to look at it! But I will! I must! for the sake of our fucking democracy!
the thing is that censorship actively makes it harder for people who don't like porn to avoid it. an uncensored internet will give people freedom to clearly state "there's porn here, don't look if you're not about that" without facing consequences for it and a sex repulsed bitch like me can just say okay and move on with their fucking life.
censorship forces the porn side of the internet to adapt and it's often in ways that make them more visible, not less. like people now refusing to use any of the inbuilt content filtering features on this site including basic tagging functionality because those things are now used to mark people as targets for censorship. so now there's just dicks waggling out in the open and no way to avoid them besides just depriving oneself of online community completely
bring back the uncensored internet and bring back community tagging. the right to post porn and the right to avoid it are the same right
Sometimes I really want to take everyone under the age of 24 (as of 2026) by the shoulders and say:
"I'm really sorry that lockdown and the ongoing pandemic interrupted pivotal educational and social/emotional development moments for you. You have an uphill battle towards adjusting to a lot of community based efforts because you experienced a mass trauma during an incredibly important time in your life where you should have physically been around your peers learning to engage in shared community. There is no "but" here, I'm genuinely really sorry. Something many of us consider key points in our interpersonal growth as youths was taken from you, not without reason but without care for its impact on you. I hope you know we are eternally allies in our struggles and if that is something you struggle to know I hope you can learn it someday."
Because so many of the angriest, most disenfranchised people I see on this website are under 24 and I often try to put younger people's behavior in the context of where they might have been 2020. I've seen the impact on my siblings and their peers+friends first hand, all ages 18-24. We've talked about how its impacted them, the isolation, the attachment to the internet, the anxieties and phobias and fears it developed in them due to the pandemic, the political unrest, and the responses to both that we've seen since. I know they're not the only ones and I know how much being marginalized also influences that impact too.
It's terrifying. I know it must be terrifying for a lot of the young people on Tumblr too. I hope one day we're able to bridge all of those complex feelings into something collective and positive so we can do our best to prevent similar traumas from happening to future generations.
Keeping an alive tumblr in 2026 is proof of one's sincerity and authenticity - a type of person who enjoys posting for the sake of it with absolutely nothing to be gained....just the enjoyment of curation and self expression untainted by opportunity and relevance
I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle and it hurts but some pain is normal, right? Everyone says it's supposed to be hard. It is a marathon after all. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but honestly it could be worse, right? I heard someone once finished with a broken leg. The ankle is nothing compared to that. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but you can get used to pain, right? The body can endure almost anything. The problem is always the mind. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but I made it this far, that means I can keep going, right? Everyone says it's supposed to be hard. It is a marathon after all.
