Onyx Equinox: Mictecacihuatl (with a Xolotl cameo!)

Micteca was an interesting god because she didn't need to possess any mortals in order to have a mortal form. Micteca was originally human, therefore her human guise is what she would have looked like if she hadn't been taken by Mictlantecuhtli. Her goddess form is a different story, though!

In regards to the last anon. Yes the age gap seems to be big, but we don't know much outside of unnofical material like the podcast interview and such. For all we know Izel might be turning 14 soon in season or Yun could have barely turned 17. An age gap of 4 or 5 years isn't as toxic as people deem it to be when it comes to adolescents like both boys here. A similar example in fiction is the age gap between Aang and Katara in Avatar which was I believe 3 or so years.

Usually I don't like comparing AtLA with Onyx Equinox because everyone keeps doing it and it's tiring but I actually think you have a great point here!

I believe there is a tendency to oversexualize mlm relationships specially in western media. And a great example is Kataang.

As you mentioned, the age gap of Sang and Katara Is about 2-3 years. And I think people don't see it as "wrong" mostly because 1. The ship is heterosexual 2. The male part is the youngest and the one who's mostly flirting.

I bet if Aang had been 14 and Katara 12 everyone would have claimed the ship was horrendous and wrong. Specially if a 14 yo male started flirting with a younger girl.

Like you mentioned a 4 year gap between teenagers isn't as toxic as it might seem provided the oldest respects some physical boundaries and there is a lack of power dynamic which might put the younger one in a manipulative situation. Ships and relationships do not always mean sexual activities.

wait @egoraptor is a voice actor in this show? ITS AMAZING.  "onyx equinox" its a new dark story telling show with real intriguing mysticism which leaves you impressed with all the research and quality they have managed to do by its simple enviormental storytelling the story its very well designed and directed, the world building aspect of it its amazing you can tell the subtle details and how society exists by the simple mannerism of the people. THe whole mistery and intrigue just leaves you with so many questions it leaves you baffled THe sound design feels very connected to the action on the scenes and there is a amazing hype feeling as it just evokes the feeling that i didnt had since avatar of simple wonderment that i will certainly save some on my phone as that sense of character is hidden gold . i jsut love the sound design of it, a good sound design and soundtrack can carry a whole series and evoke and accentuate storytelling elements so much better than you could’ve done alone.

I still have music and soundtrack from songs that i probably would never watch again but the sounds and music design keeps staying with you long after the show ends its running and episodes. And its a way to introduce people to shows that you would’ve forgotten it otherwise .

The animation of it is really cool i could totally see multiple influences coming here such as a big anime influence combined with western france type animation. which it goes really well making something uncannily unique and interesting with both of their strenghts This seems to be a new current as KIPO was also a combination of these 2 or i wasn’t aware of the current yet The authors touch you can also see as there are certain shapes and ideas depicted in a certain way. Also can we talk about the smoothness and the fluidity of the aimation? Its very vivid and life like i would say as you can see the weight in every slice and emotion in every gesture and feel connected to the characters. The scenes in the trailer remind me of a very old show “the shaman king” which seems like somewhat inspired characters as they both have a certain feel and a few good similarities that can be certainly contributed that they were possibly a big fan in the late 90′s or the mid 2000′s where i’ve seen them. When i first watched that scene it reminded me of being 9 year old and being amazed at every scene of the show and felt enamored with all the action which rarely happens anymore so this just goes on and says how good the show is. But yeah i also can’t believe that arin hanson from game grumps is also a key voice actor for one of the important characters in the show he has a great voice i couldn’t even tell it was him but some of the authority from his voice was definitely very interesting. i really want to see more and to know what happened after that city sunk. Who is that giant blood demon that destroyed the city and hows gonna things evolve as its a big part of the uncharted territory From what i’’ve seen the author being from south america has also done his research along with his team and made specific choices that make it true to the mythology. As their mythology isnt that well known to me beside the basics i can’t tell more beside they are visually interesting and certainly i would’ve been shocked and scared to see them kill my city So this is one of the shows that will make 2020 better as i eagly await new episodes of shows and a new way to talk about things and about my hyperfixation on things as it probably more healthy to talk about it here. I’m sure there are a lot more things to say but its 2 am and im tired So in conclusion i have very high hopes for this show and i am looking forward with its blank slate and just open imagination of the all unique ways it can develop this dark but very intriguing story who doesnt need to pull punches with rating to make it interesting. Its a mature show with some mature elements shouldn’t be watched by childrne but otherwise very good
