facing yourself?
Today was my dear Ooby's birthday. I miss her so deeply and still can't wrap my head around her absence. I am so grateful that her lessons live on.
Ooby has changed the lives of so many other dogs by being an example of the perils of pure breeding, showing the healing power of a vegan doggie diet, and being the most tolerant, gentle, genuine being I've ever encountered.
I remember her every moment of every day, but especially today. Her life was all-too-brief and she was saddled with far too many burdens because of what we humans wanted her to look like. What WE decided she should be.
But she lived fully in every moment. Ooby was fully present wherever she was. She gave of herself completely. She saved my life more times than I can count. And she will forever be in my heart.
Now, thanks to Toronto Pig Save, her memory lives on in the most beautiful way. In a little rescued lamb. A 2 month old baby slated for slaughter before being liberated by TPS activists. Ooby the sheep's freedom could not have come at a more fitting time.
How better to celebrate a life so vibrantly lived than with a brand new life saved from an all-too-common premature end.
Happy birthday, my dear Ooby. Your legacy lives on in more ways than one. I love you, now and always.
