Finally got my hands on a VexTan print by the wonderfully talented @oochilka and it’s just as pretty in-person! It will be going up in my new office soon. So surreal and lovely and heartwarming to hold art for a ship I made. I’m over the moon! 🥰

I continue to be amazed at the fantastic artists who grace Terror fandom -- from the playful to the hauntingly eerie, there's something for everyone's tastes. The shopping list continues to grow!
decided to treat myself for no reason and commissioned the wonderful, incomparable, inimitable @oochilka to draw some scenes from my latest fic, praised the morning; gloried in the sea, which is full of austen-esque goodness.
and i! am! freaking out!! look at these beautiful works of art!!! look at my handsome sons in their regency best!!!
So I saw @oochilka’s absolutely delightful Joplittle quarantine art and then, you know, my hand must have just slipped... :)
Edward was knee-deep in spreadsheets and projected sales numbers when he caught the warm aroma of something wonderful emerging from the oven.
There had been a lot of these kinds of smells lately; now that he and Tom were staying home all day to work, Tom had taken to baking on an almost-daily basis, finding it to be a good outlet for his energy. Scouring the internet for recipes, over the past three weeks he had managed to churn out cinnamon rolls, scones, coffee cake, brownies, and lemon bars, along with a number of different kinds of bread. And best of all, he was willing to share.
Edward’s patience was soon rewarded: by the time he was putting the final touches on his presentation, Tom walked into their bedroom with a mug of herbal tea in one hand and a plate of gooey chocolate chip cookies in the other. He set them both down beside Edward and then climbed into bed next to him, resting his chin on Edward’s shoulder as he quickly ran his eyes over the contents of the laptop screen.
It didn’t take long before he got distracted.
“I still don’t know how I feel about this quarantine beard,” he said, as he ran his knuckles along the edge of Edward’s jaw. “It’s like I’m married to Jon Snow all of the sudden.”
Edward snorted. “I thought you liked Jon Snow.”
“Not in the seasons where he goes all scraggly.” He inched closer until he was curled up against Edward’s back, running his hand down the front of Edward’s t-shirt. “It’s good that you’re trying to keep it trimmed down, though. Makes you look a little less like you’re a captain lost at sea.”
Fic Rec Time!
In light of @oochilka’s lovely art of a Lieutenant Jopson and Captain’s Steward Little, I would love to remind y’all that @draculas-gay-daughter has a delightful fic that explores the joplittle dynamic but with their positions reversed.
If you haven’t read In His Shape How Lovely, check it out here! ❤️❤️

oochilka replied to your photo “oochilka: now I definitely have a personal place in hell waiting for...”
I can't say i had this brilliant and overall fantabulous fic in mind while drawing but i had read it at that point so. Most likely it was an illustration for the general mood of the summer before the year of tlj if you forgive the pun
I love it regardless. I’m not normally a fan of slave!Hux but his expression and the insouciant cigarette makes it for me :)
@oochilka replied to your post: “NGL, I can out of TFA both times thinking it was obvious Rey was Han...”
i thought she was Luke's descendant because if she was Han and Leia's that'd be somehow mentioned like when they talked about Ben they'd say something about how they they'd fucked up as parents everytime. why would they be regretful about how their son turned out to be and not mentioned a daughter. Even if they thought she was long dead. (that's actually me trying to analyse now, at the cinema I just took it for granted I think )
I don’t think it was a question of forgetting, I think it was a question of protection.
The way I saw it, and admittedly looking back on it every instance could easily be turned to say Luke, but here’s my general thought process (sorry it got kind of long).
I first started to wonder if Kylo and Rey were related during the interrogation scene. While it was extremely squicky as a scene it seemed like there was something about Rey that made Kylo want to dig deeper. Later, when we get the memory presumably of Luke programming R2D2, it made me wonder if perhaps he had manipulated Rey’s memory so she would not recognize her parents if presented with them. It’s also possibly, if Kylo is as old as Driver, that if they are siblings, he was off being a padawan around the time that Rey was born, which might be why he’d recognize her Force signature more than her face. I can see how if they were cousins instead of siblings that Kylo might have a similar reaction.
Another reason I began to think Rey was Leia’s instead of Luke’s was once she’s in the Millennium Falcon, she seems to know how to pilot it. Of course this would come from years of salvage work, but she also seems to have a very high mechanical aptitude, but it could be if Luke is her father that her mother was also mechanical like Han is mechanical. In one of the flashes of memory the Millennium Falcon is scene jetting away as Rey cries, but the Millennium Falcon would have likely been used whether she was Luke or Leia’s in the end probably. There was also the way that Han looked at her and the acting choices/direction that gave me a sense that Han and Rey are some kind of family. I also got that impression when Rey and Leia interact together. There’s also that ring Leia wears that gained a lot of questions, but I could see how that ring might just represent Han and Ben rather than Ben and Rey.
As far as why would Han and Leia choose to ignore the signs that this girl is their daughter or perhaps not reveal it to Rey at any point of the journey, I think that lies in the events that caused everyone to think the right choice was to manipulate Rey’s mind (as evident by the lightsabre flashback scene) and to put her somewhere the First Order and/or the Knights of Ren couldn’t find her. Given the level of rehash theater, likely whatever caused Ben to become Kylo left almost everyone dead except Rey or possibly when the Knights of Ren caught up to Luke, something occurred that everyone agreed it would be in Rey’s and probably the universe’s best interest to put her somewhere the First Order couldn’t touch her until she was ready. It’s also possible that to ensure Rey’s safety when the Millennium Falcon left, Han reluctantly was mind manipulated into forgetting where he put her so if Kylo were to pick his brain, he wouldn’t be able to find her. That might also be why Leia would choose not to tell Rey before Rey goes to see Luke because it’s not time to tell Rey that yet. It’ll be more time to tell her about it when Rey’s mind manipulations have fully dispersed and she can sense who she’s related to like how Luke could sense Vader was indeed his father.
All that said, one thing that did make me start to think maybe my brain had gone off on the wrong tangent thinking Rey was Leia’s child and not Luke’s child (she’s clearly Anakin and Padme’s grandchild at least) was when Hamill started referring to Boyega as his son like he refers to Ridley as his daughter. Then that got me me thinking about how in the narrative because of the rehashing, Rey functions as Luke, Finn functions as Han, and Poe functions as Leia, though there are aspects of Finn where he functions as Leia and Poe functions as Han. So, I could see it being that Finn and Rey are secretly siblings, both of them Luke’s children. But it could just be Hamill stirring the pot. I know a few weeks after I watched VII the first time I started to think, ‘What if it’s Finn that’s Luke’s son?’ so anything’s probably still possible.
Either way, I probably need to rewatch VII with the concept of Luke as Rey’s dad in the back of my mind and see what I see.
