when i was a teenager i obviously wanted to be edgy so when AM by arctic monkeys came out, i kept saying it wasn't "their best album" (even though i listened to it pretty much 24/7) because it was their most commercially successful one, and because i was a Real Fan whose favorite arctic monkeys song was a b-side (the blond-o-sonic shimmer trap, i stand by it, actually). thankfully, i've (mostly) grown out of my need to be a contrarian, and it's obvious to anyone with even a shred of taste that it's a pretty flawless album...
