I just had a thought about impel down and the soulmate au. Luffy almost died from poison, it may not be a very visible wound, but it still hurt like hell from what i could tell. How would that show up for all his soul mates? Would it even leave a proper mark? I feel like all the strawhats during their time being separated over the time skip would have so much added onto their canon feelings mainly because of the fact they can feel whats happening to their captain. It must be awful knowing and feeling someone you love is going throigh horrible pain but you cant so anything to help.
Also, do you think ace would feel happy anytime he noticed a new soul mark from luffy? Knowing his brother is still alive and adventuring? (And vis versa for luffy)

hmm, i’m not sure internal injuries would show up, but the poison burning his skin could be a bit like a flickering of marks everywhere across his soulmates’ bodies. it’s a little like, hey this is so overwhelming not even the bond knows what to do about it
it’s a terrible thing, and it further builds onto their determination to support luffy and do whatever they can to make it back and stick by his side
ace would feel pride knowing his little brother is out there making waves, but he’s always been a big brother before a pirate, and he cant help but worry worry worry whenever luffy gets hurt to a larger degree. like when luffy was fighting arlong and teeth marks kept showing up all over, or when crocodile stabbed him (horrifying to feel), or when he was climbing up drum—he’s proud because hell yeah thats his brother being an awesome pirate, but also thats his brother being a pirate and he cant not worry about him
luffy would quite like it i think, even though ace is a logia so he doesnt get hurt as often. though this also means that most likely feels it when blackbeard takes him down. not sure what this would lead to, if he’d still believe thwt ace is capable of protecting himself, but it’s there
