I already made a separate post for both of these scenes but I have two things to say in regards of them together

1) I will never not find absolutely hilarious and adorable how Luffy and Law can have a perfectly civil, calm, friendy conversation filled with mutual trust and respect... And then Kid says one (1) sentence and all three of them turn into actual children immediately, competing over any tiny little thing they can find

2) Luffy: You two stay back

Kid: You two stay back

Law: If Eustass-ya and only Eustass-ya tells me what to do again, I will literally cut him into pieces. (Luffy can tho. I will bitch but he can.)

i think they messed this line up a little in the official translation- the threat loses some of its weight due to a specific word choice. the official has kaidou saying "once you’re dead, we’ll take everything you have! all your manpower and treasure will belong to us!”

i don’t think the word “manpower” was a good choice here. technically i guess its... not completely wrong, but it muddles the meaning. the original word in japanese is 仲間/nakama. crew. kaidou is specifically threatening to take luffy’s crew.
