Law just casually warps Luffy out when he’s about .02 seconds away from getting smacked by Kaido but instead of acknowledging that he just saved him he’s instead been fixated for the last several minutes on making sure that Luffy knows saving the Scabbards was his idea first!!!

i think they messed this line up a little in the official translation- the threat loses some of its weight due to a specific word choice. the official has kaidou saying "once you’re dead, we’ll take everything you have! all your manpower and treasure will belong to us!”

i don’t think the word “manpower” was a good choice here. technically i guess its... not completely wrong, but it muddles the meaning. the original word in japanese is 仲間/nakama. crew. kaidou is specifically threatening to take luffy’s crew.

Chapter 1001 - and oh, my...

This chapter is pure magic. I love it so very much and everything about it is perfection. Chapter 1000 was all solemn and feelings and stuff and then this one just knocks it out of the park.

We have Law, being his lone wolf, “I won’t do what you tell me, hah!”-self.

And this.

This amazing sequence that shows just what kind of people the captains are.

I’m just...when Zoro questions your judgment, you’ve gone so very wrong.

How did we go from this, arguably one of the most memorable scenes in the manga so far...
