shanks in luffy's memory one piece ; episode 1168
Franky: Man, I gotta show Robin these ancient carvings, she’ll love them!
Me, fine and normal about them:
I've been thinking since last chapter about his wanted poster. Granted and probably the public doesn't know of his Celestial Dragon status, but his poster is Dead or Alive. If they really wanted him back after he leaves you'd think it be just Alive. At least before he became Emperor.
His departure and return to the pirate life really hurt someone - I'm going to make a safe guess Shamrock given how tentative and brotherly he was towards last chapter and in turn the first time we heard him speak of Shanks in retrospect seem more grudeful (? Is that the word I'm looking for) and hurtful for his brother "abandoning" him and leaving him alone for the second time in their lives.
But then again... he got away knowing some pretty dangerous information, like with the Seals and stuff, that could definitely also play a role. Like even if Shamrock doesn't want him dead, more important people above him would. Sure, he had only the basic contract and 1168 says he left literally the day before he was to get the next - the one that would allow Imu's control, so. Him just out there with the information of devil contracts and not even mentioning going on and stealing the Nika fruit, that's very wanted Dead worthy. And if they hypothetically manged to get him captured alive I believe the torture they'd give would be worse... so.
Anyway thoughts I had at like 3 am this morning.
(Picture is so fucking crunchy here)
With everything that’s being revealed by Shanks’ past - him freeing fisher tiger, intercepting the holy land etc. How the hell he’s still alive in the actual story is beyond me with how big of a target he has on his back and this actually terrifies me.
I’m so worried about him for the next arc and even for the end of Elbaph because I just feel like they’re setting him up for the end of his story and I can’t take it.
The parallels must be intentional
Odin cradles Frigga as she dies, Thor reacts in anguish, Loki finds out from his cell
Harald cradles Ida as she dies, Hajrudin reacts in anguish, Loki finds out from his cell

// One Piece chapter 1168 spoilers
I'm surprised people are shocked over Ida's death. Maybe this is partly due to me catching up to One Piece after we saw Loki's Flashback, but I thought it was obvious she was dead.
I do know she falls into the category of "dead mom" trope, but there's another trope she falls under which I think needs to be talked about some more.
Ida 'haunts the narrative'. She unironically responsible for one of the most infamous island's current state, simply cause he was kind. She was a mother, a wife and a good person who influenced the politics of her country.
Honestly, I could find more parallels between her and Otohime, than with her and the other "dead moms" of One Piece (ie; Usopp's mom, Sanji's mom, and Robin's mom)
I get why some people may be upset at this, but I could see this coming from a mile away, and I'm honestly happy with the impact that she's left. She didn't just affect Loki. She affected Harald, Hajrudin, and her nation, to the point that they killed her in a political scheme.
Mind as well punch me in the gut
