(I have 5 (tho I didn’t take a picture of one bc it was more about judeo-persian history than it was general iranian jewish history, and two others bc they pertained more to Iran-Israel ) I’ll post pictures under the read more!!
This book is awesome, with lots of information and interesting photos. Houman Sarshar in general has a lot of great work regarding Iranian Jewry and I think they just published a new book late last year? “Jews of Iran” I believe its entitled. Couldnt get my hands on it yet bc its about $90 last time I checked LOL [though Esther’s Children cost me about $70, yeesh!]
This book explores Iranian Jews and their relationships [and conversions to] Islam and later the Bahai faith and includes loads of historical context. There’s even [auto]biographies of pretty notable Iranian Jews and their experiences with conversions, and the flexibility of Jewish identities in regards to their conversions to the Bahai faith specifically. It’s super neat-o, can be heavy on the academic jargon at times. still good though
This book was published in tandem with a museum exhibition about Iranian Jews that happened a couple of years ago [I believe? I don’t remember LOL] but its got articles about Iranian Jewish history, visual arts and literature, and diaspora communities. Pretty pictures too!
just as the title says, it’s basically a book compiled of the entries on Encyclopaedia Iranica–all full of great information like Judeo-Persian languages, different iranian jewish communities, jewish influence in Persian music, and other such neat things.
Like I said, the 3 others I omitted for the fact that they didn’t pertain widely to general Iranian Jewish history [though one about iran-israel relations did focus on Iranian Jewish placement in the Zionist narrative of the modern state of Israel in certain chapters, still. It was mostly about Iran-Israel political relationship]. Hope this helped!!!))
