I LOVE HIM
“Ancient Tech” -- Right. Got it.
Been saying the One Piece world was a lost space colony for months now.
But I also read other science fiction stories in the past 5 years that had this as the twist as well.
me: “oh, this is a cool fantasy with a nifty magic system”
book: but wait! it isn’t real magic! it is near unexplainable quantum space science!!!
If you like Young Adult books (and ones that treat the characters more age appropriate) I would suggest: The Pillars of Reality by Jack Campbell
If you want lots of action, adult themes, a long ass series that is still on going, and a more classic 70′s / 80′s / 90′s type epic fantasy setting: The Spellmonger by Terry Mancour.
Bonus:
The Villains’ Code - Drew Hayes: super hero novel. BUT! several of the characters have tropes in common with one piece characters. which having to come up with a series with a bunch of unique character powers often ends up with a lot of overlap (some powers, like gravity manipulation, show up in Hayes’ other super series: Super Powereds).... I just love a series with characters code named things like Johnny Three Dicks and Captain Bullshit.
