Halloween OLN

Too spooky!

Spooky ghosts on Halloween to scare the pants off girls and boys. Lots of candy make tummies ache Candy, candy but no toys. If you dare to walk alone down dark streets in the night I give you credit for not being scared, not running off, no fight. The Wreck of Heaven

Shards of a shattered sky

Scattered on sea spray,

Tossed on the back of a stallion storm –

The frowning face of the firmament has been torn,

Scarred by lightning,

Rusty Tree

Copper beech sheds its umber

(ella) shade with metallic flourish;

leaf by burnished leaf, they gather,

The Proust Effect

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Open Link Night, for which I would like to share a ‘stream of consciousness’ poem I submitted to The Poetry Society’s Members’ Poems Competition on the topic of ‘scent’, which was unsuccessful.

I inhale

The summer trail

Of dust and flowers

Where we played for hours

Sniffing wild fennel studded with snails

On the way to school

Wrapped in scarves

Of damp autumn fog
