I finished reading The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things and Open Road Summer. Although they are not really the same, I find some similar themes in both books -- music, writing songs, making bad choices, getting arrested and finding love in the midst of all the drama.

They were both good reads though a bit predictable or perhaps I've just been too exposed to YALit lately that I find my recent reads seemingly having familiar plots.

Still, I like that both stories have "happy endings" -- finding an acceptable solution to their problems, mending their relations with their families and falling back in love with their respective partners as in Sage getting Shane out of juvie and ensuring him a home with his dad and Raegan finally letting her walls down enough for Matt to enter and stay beside her.

Started and finished Open Road Summer the day before yesterday and sadly I didn't love it. I had really high expectations and they just weren't met. It might have a lot to do with me not really liking the main character.
