A very timely devotion for today's happening which the Lord had given me before I knew what happened from the other side of the world. World peace is an illusion. The history is full of stories of mankind fighting for equality, justice and human rights. None of these causes stood the test of time. For centuries now, mankind has tried to solve society's problems apart from Christ. Do you remember what Jesus said to His disciples a few days before His death? "In this world, you will have trouble. But take courage, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) The last days will have many troubles. There will be rumors of wars; nations will rise against nations; there will be great earthquakes and calamities none has experienced or heard before; immorality will increase; and people will be lovers of evil. Do not pray for world peace. It is not the will of God. But pray for the peace of God which transcends human understanding to guard our hearts in Christ Jesus. Take heart, my dear brethren. Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in the land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the Majesty of the Lord. Because of that, the Lord's hand is lifted high but they do not see it. The Lord will show His zeal for His people. His enemies will be put to shame, fire will consume them." (Isaiah 26:10-11) But to the righteous, the Scriptures says, "YOU WILL KEEP IN PERFECT PEACE HIM WHOSE MIND IS STEADFAST BECAUSE HE TRUSTS IN YOU" "TELL THE RIGHTEOUS IT WILL BE WELL WITH THEM FOR THEY WILL ENJOY THE FRUIT OF THEIR DEEDS." "GO, MY PEOPLE, ENTER YOUR ROOMS AND SHUT THE DOORS BEHIND YOU; HIDE YOURSELVES FOR A LITTLE WHILE UNTIL HIS WRATH HAS PASSED BY." (Isaiah 6:3, 26) Cry to the Lord in distress though you can barely whisper a prayer because of your affliction. The Lord will decide peace for you. Set your confidence on this: The Lord, The Lord is an everlasting ROCK. He will not be shaken. The Lord knows those who are His He will protect His own.
