Quick Question

If I start working on multiple stories, how would you prefer I deal with updates?

Definitely will have to stick with one-a-week updates cause holy shit, multiple stories will be hard, yo. But beyond that? Should I just update whichever I’m more interested in? Cause the “con” of that method would be that it’s just too easy to fall out of interest in older stories and end up dropping them.

But the other option would be staggered updates, rotating between them, and that would probably piss off a lot of people. You come here for TMNT stories and suddenly you have to wait two, three, four weeks for an update while I post Detroit: Become Human and Skyrim stuff instead?

Oh yeah, I can already feel the frustration welling up in some of you.

Thing is, the second option is still better than the first cause it means I’ll constantly be shifting my attention, and that’s a great way to keep me from getting burned out. It also means that no matter which story you’re here for, you won’t have to wait too long to get the next update -- in fact, you’ll be waiting just as long as everyone else is.

On that note, I already started writing a fic for Detroit: Become Human (titled Blue Blood) and should finish chapter 1 before Friday -- if I ignore The DJ completely, that is. At this point I can only finish one of them in time if I want to give myself time to recharge, too. Which would it be?

Note that Blue Blood is based largely on my first playthrough of D:BH and includes (spoiler alert!) A Death right at the end, which sets up a framework for the fic’s continuation. Also I kinda liked The Death from a storyteller’s perspective; it’s not a sad, morbid thing, but more a positive one. The kind of character death that leaves you with a smile cause they went into it looking at the bright side of things.

Story Summary: What does a newly-awakened state-of-the-art detective android do when his original purpose is no longer relevant, his people are free, and his partner is gone? He finds a new purpose...and a new partner.

TBH I kinda tried to work in Markus, North, Kara, Luther and Alice in various ways but it really feels like their stories can’t really be expanded upon. Connor’s the only one who (of all the Good Endings) seems like he has other places to go and other things to do...and other ways to get himself into trouble, lol.

So, naturally, Connor wins the protagonist trophy and gets center stage.

Also he’s so goddamn cute wtf.

ANYWAY.

How much chest compression do you want out of a binder?

Hey, @star-anise here. I’m sewing away and hit a question I can’t answer on my own, not being trans or someone who binds regularly. I’d really like transmasc peoples’ feedback here about what you want your chest to look like? and what makes you feel “flat enough”?

Because when I come down to it, making a binder involves a trade-off of how much it compresses vs how much it restricts. I can make this binder flatten me as much as my breast tissue will physically squish, if I don’t want to breathe. Something going around the chest has to accommodate for the fact that your chest is constantly expanding and contracting.

And I’m not actually sure what the ideal is here when people say “flat”. Most men’s chests are broader around their nipples than the rest of their chests, though until I can get a large sample of cis men’s bust vs underbust measurements, I don’t know how by how much.

TW: Body measurements: What kind of effects am I achieving right now?

When I’m wearing little or no breast support, my measurements are 

Above Bust: 38″ Bust: 42″ Underbust: 35″

(That’s about a 36DD/95E, ish.)

Right now, with this sports bra vertically boned but not in any way horizontally restricted:

Above Bust: 39″ Bust: 40″ Underbust: 38″

So now I’m looking at adding vertical constriction to the binder--current experiments with ribbon seem to indicate I can get those three measurements to even out at 38″, meaning my entire chest is 3″ larger than my underbust used to be. (Yes, part of that is the binder extending out into open air under my breasts). I can still breathe deeply at that 38″.

So what’s the desired outcome here? Is even measurements for the three areas of chest the ideal? Am I on the right track about not compressing past the point I can comfortably breathe? Where should I be aiming with this?

(Oh! I forgot to mention. This is the “convert a sports bra to a binder using things you can find in a dollar store” project.)

I’m looking into writing software, I thought it’d be a good 2nd look since I don’t have a beta.  At one point, I purchased Scrivener’s, but didn’t use it much and I think it was lost in a computer hiccup.  Are there any others that folks find useful?  This is for fic, not for scripts FYI - I know there are a few that are primarily for screenwriting.

Would you rather have one insane chapter or two smaller chapters that get posted much closer together than my normal update timeline? Because this chapter is killing me thinking how long it'll be but I thought I'd ask to see which one is better, especially because it's been a while since I updated. And thanks to everyone for their patience!

Okay, so, this has been needling at me all day, despite my stubborn attempts to ignore the bad thoughts. Help me out here, Tumblr. A lot of you who follow me read my stuff and... well... I can take a guess at your answers, because I’ve read all of your comments, but I’m just going to throw this out there. 

I’ve once again been more or less accused of writing my genderflipped Toni as a Mary Sue. This person at least had the decency to message me privately instead of throwing their tantrum up in my reviews like the last person did, and was somewhat more civil about it, but the gist is that they don’t read stuff with Mary Sue OCs, so thanks for the good times, but they’re out of everything that features Toni Stark.

Which is pretty much 90% of my goddamn work right now.

Help me out here, brain trust of Tumblr. Call this a cry for attention or whatever you want, but I need something that isn’t the vicious loop of my head playing “well, maybe they’re right, except that they’re not, except that they have a point, except that they don’t” for the rest of eternity. 

I’m not looking for anyone to kiss my ass here either. I value any honest thought any of you have, presented with civility and respect. Cos I’d like to do more than get halfway into any scene or more than three or four lines on a sketch before the Imposter Syndrome Chorus starts chanting in my head again.

Opinions requested?

So I’m thinking about getting a tattoo that represents support for all gender identifications (or lack thereof), but I’m worried about being appropriative. (See: all the white feminists appropriating the Black Power symbol with the Venus symbol)

I’d really like to get the symbol that was created a while back that includes female, trans, male, non-binary, and non-identifying. It’s a combination of the female, trans, and male symbol with a line through the circle (I’d like to add little hands beneath either side as well).

Is this idea appropriating trans and nb symbols?

I feel like since I have a very clear idea of the three S’s in this situation I might be okay, but I’d hate to offend someone with something meant to support.

Possible Calender Agenda?

We here at Mass Effect OC Appreciation had early on planned to have regular OC focus months, much like last December's Krogan OC month and the upcoming Salarian OC month.

Given there are 12 months in the year and 16 Mass Effect species (Minus Reaper/Leviathan, Keepers, Yahg, and various non-sapients including the elusive virtual species)

We were wondering if, to keep things fresh but also not overloading, our calender should be biyearly. Giving the opportunity to equally give each race a chance while also opening the doors to non-race based months. An example being Mercenary OC month.

We don't have many followers but non-follower opinions are also welcome. 

Should we have a structured biyearly calender that people can plan according to? Or should we have it be completely random to keep a surprise element? Maybe you have a better solution you would like to voice?
