Therapeutic Training Courses in Boscombe
Two training courses have become available, mainly aimed at those who work with children & young people who are aged between 11 and 19 years, but ages 7 - 25 years will be addressed on the day. The trainer who will be delivering the workshop works with younger children (7+) so this will be covered too. This workshop will be delivered by Pauline Couch and Shelly Barter - Senior Counsellor and Creative Arts Therapist for Step4ward and The Koru Project.
1) Basic concept of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Approaches: Saturday 29th June
For those working with, or wish to work with young people in a helping or supporting role (not intended as therapy training, but will be therapeutic for ‘clients’)
To understand the basic principles and theory behind CBT
To have the opportunity to explore and use effective, and some not so well known, techniques.
To experience CBT techniques and how that may feel for CYP
Experience positive thinking techniques & how to transfer to CYP
Understand basic techniques to help support CYP
Understand how to recognise when formal therapy is required
Feel more confident using pattern changing ‘Tools’
Explain the basic concepts confidently
2) ‘Creative Play & use of Metaphor’ workshop: Saturday 30th March 10am – 4pm
To discuss techniques that help engage and empower young people.
To clarify the need for specific assessment/evaluation procedures.
To explore why it is important to offer creative interventions in helping others communicate and express their feelings positively.
To clarify the ‘boundaries’ of creativity.
To experience examples of working with Creative ‘Play’& Metaphor.
Have engagement techniques to use with children and young people.
Have a clearer sense of ‘self’ in the helping role.
Understand the impact of diversifying styles.
Have experienced, and reflected on, the ‘Power of Metaphor’.
Have a better understanding of the nature and need for ‘Play’, and its purpose when in the ‘Helping’ role.
