Therapeutic Training Courses in Boscombe

Two training courses have become available, mainly aimed at those who work with children & young people who are aged between 11 and 19 years, but ages 7 - 25 years will be addressed on the day. The trainer who will be delivering the workshop works with younger children (7+) so this will be covered too.   This workshop will be delivered by Pauline Couch and Shelly Barter - Senior Counsellor and Creative Arts Therapist for Step4ward and The Koru Project.

1) Basic concept of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Approaches: Saturday 29th June

For those working with, or wish to work with young people in a helping or supporting role (not intended as therapy training, but will be therapeutic for ‘clients’)

Aims:

To understand the basic principles and theory behind CBT

To have the opportunity to explore and use effective, and some not so well known, techniques.

To experience CBT techniques and how that may feel for CYP

Experience positive thinking techniques & how to transfer to CYP

Outcomes:

Understand basic techniques to help support CYP

Understand how to recognise when formal therapy is required

Feel more confident using pattern changing ‘Tools’

Explain the basic concepts confidently

Cost: £85per person

2) ‘Creative Play & use of Metaphor’ workshop: Saturday 30th March 10am – 4pm

Aims:

To discuss techniques that help engage and empower young people.

To clarify the need for specific assessment/evaluation procedures.

To explore why it is important to offer creative interventions in helping others communicate and express their feelings positively.

To clarify the ‘boundaries’ of creativity.

To experience examples of working with Creative ‘Play’& Metaphor.

Outcomes:    

Have engagement techniques to use with children and young people.

Have a clearer sense of ‘self’ in the helping role.

Understand the impact of diversifying styles.

Have experienced, and reflected on, the ‘Power of Metaphor’.

Have a better understanding of the nature and need for ‘Play’, and its purpose when in the ‘Helping’ role.

The Mothership - artist residencies in South West Dorset, Unincorporated Collaborations

The Mothership project, which emerged in 2016 in rural Dorset from the cosmic skies of rural loneliness juxtaposed with the contained space of the domestic sphere, is an invitation for the chance encounters of the urban art world to occur in this unlikely location, a house at the edge of a wood. The Mothership is an offering of time and space for artists without pressure to produce anything particular. This is a social art project, an experiment in autonomy and scale, exploring the relationship between host and guest and the exchange that may occur. This is an unpaid residency opportunity and a fee is charged to cover overheads.

I dont know why, but I need a rant..

just recently it seems to hard to be happy, but today i'm in such a good mood, purely from spending last night talking about my future and realising having future goals gives you inspiration, keeps you going, like a project day in, day out, which keeps you on your toes, makes you look forward to something for once, so not one day goes by where you're wasting time and missing out on oppertunities. most of all, making yourself proud.

i aim too much to make others happy, to try impress them or make them proud, put them before myself, etc, where i should actually think about myself for once and i did, and it felt great.

i've made a plan with a couple of good friends of mine, which one has to be completely secret that only makes it more exciting for me! the other is i finally get to work on a film set and move away for a few week which is absolutely amazing because i think from that experience i will know where i exactly want to be in life.

my family are actually been extremely supportive for once and for anyone who's close to us will understand that this never happens. we never give one another advice or owt. if anything we keep everything to ourselves.

my friends are been absolutely amazing! theyre helping me out as much as possible and it's great to know that they've got my back on this one.

but yet, all these things are going well, and soon i'll be raking in the dollas.. i still don't know who i am, i know what i want to be, just not who i am. something is still yet missing and has been for a while. i dont even know what. but that's the only thing that's dragging me down at the moment, it seems to be taking over my feelings and making me feel more and more little and shit about myself every single day.

im an extremely impatient person and i can't be arsed feeling this way much longer. so it's time i did something for me.. and FUCK what you think darling ;)
