 A follow up to something I don’t think anyone read: “Men are the oppressor class” (or any variation of that).

I asked “if men are the oppressor class, does that includes trans men?” It was an attempt at starting a conversation that never happened, so here’s the answer: the answer is no, of course trans men do not belong to the “oppressor class” whatever that means, they can experience, misogyny, transphobia, sexism, etc.

And this includes a corollary: if we have this entire class of men who are not a so called “oppressor class” how can we even say men, as a whole, are oppressors? Or that they make up an “oppressor class”?

In short, that post was just a way to say that men are not oppressors, there is no “oppressor class” because intersectionality is a thing. Men are oppressors is just a TERF dogwhistle

I’m gonna tell you why “men are the oppressor class” is transphobic:

First off, TERFs are the ones using it; second trans men don’t have the same institutional power cis men do, so you can’t say they are part of the oppressor class, and if a group of men cannot be considered part of the oppressor class, how can you say men as a whole are oppressors? Now this can apply to other groups of men, like men of color, queer men, disabled men, etc (so you know), but the reason I’m saying this arguments are transphobic is because minority men often have power over minority women and TERFs use this as a way to insist that yes, men are oppressors of women because they will oppress women in their communities; but trans men and other trans masculine people are always exempt from the oppressor group, why? Because they’re AFAB and therefore not “real” men.

Basically if you believe “men” are the oppressors, but trans men are not; that always carries the implication that they are not “true” man and that’s transphobic

Are Trans Men part of the “oppressor class”? If yes, does that include trans men that don’t pass and closeted trans men? If not, why not?

Why the fuck should I worry about alienating my oppressor in my quest for liberation when the oppression they lay upon me is more alienating than anything their insulated position of power will ever allow them to experience?
