The SSD model I have for my boot drive is the lowest-latency M.2 drive on the planet (and will be for the foreseeable future, because the technology it uses stopped being developed).

Part of why I know I won't switch from ext4 to btrfs despite all its cool features (and why I won't encrypt my install) is because those add latency, and I like pretending I can actually notice the 8-microsecond response times.
