Nighttime was an interesting time for Francis, usually stressful in a way he had grown much too familiar with. As the day progressed he could feel panic set in, knowing that he was in for either flashbacks that came in the form of nightmares, and or his soul leaving his body to wander through the halls.
It made him feel like he didn’t have any control. He knew this was a feeling he needed to fight, but he still found himself pacing before deciding to sleep. Francis turned his bedside light on and off exactly seven times, said a prayer three times, before sleeping on exactly his right side. Surely, this would help keep him grounded and save him from what was surely a night of terror.
The thing is it never actually worked. It was wasted energy, that only worked to appease his anxiety for a few short moments.
He did in fact have a night terror, where he was back in the car with his family, on that fateful day. Instead of waking up screaming, he felt himself project out of his body, floating away.
The fear he always felt looking down at his body was much different than when he was on the physical plane. It was much less severe and dulled in a way, he could feel worry, but it was through a fog. That part, Francis liked, everything else he did not.
He floated away, making his way through the Advocates Hall, the only light shining in was that of the moon. He could almost disappear into the shadows of the halls, his form barely visible.
One of the people that he had come to enjoy spending time with when he was like this was Edvin. They were both on a plane that wasn’t physical, but had connected whenever he was astral projecting. Instead of trying to immediately get back into his body, Francis found himself wandering about, usually settling on a spot where they wouldn’t disturb others to chat.
He wandered around until he found a nice spot in one of the common areas, now alone, most of the members asleep or off somewhere else.
“Edvin,” he called out, hoping to summon him. “Edvin. I hope I’m not interrupting anything important you’re doing. I did it again, and I was hoping to have a chat with you.”
