So the other day I was talking with my friend and we started talking about our favorite shows and the best movie snacks and I started talking about how it depends on what I'm watching and what I'm feeling. I explained how some shows are for sweet foods, and some are for savory. And then there's also different kind of sweet— like natural (fruit) and unnatural (chocolate). I told her what all my shows were— about how teen wolf is for salty foods, and big sky is for sweet. Brooklyn nine-nine is for lunchtime meals and late-night snack-free binges. Supernatural is for fruit or sweet treats (but only cold sweet treats), but specifically the early seasons. Later seasons are for heartier foods— burgers or pigs-in-a-blanket. And then I told her about how cartoons are more for background noise, or pasta. I also explained that comedies should never be watched with cold sweet treats, only warm ones or salads or pastas— but honestly, comedies shouldn't be watched with sweets at all. Horror? Absolutely we need some sweets for that— specifically brownies with ice cream for anything post-2000, pre-modernist. Pre-2000? That's for gummies and sour candies. Our modern horror? Fluffier and fruitier treats. But mysterious are different. Mystery TV shows require spicy snack foods— like seasoned pistachios or Cajun trail mix (my person fav), and mystery movies require popcorn.
After I explained all this and more, she looks at me and goes, "oh okay, sick. Are you autistic?"
And honestly with the amount of times people have asked me that I'm considering getting tested.
