5. Do you like constructive criticism?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, if I need constructive criticism because I'm unsure about how well this plot point or that scene works, I'll ask one of my friends--nearly all of whom are writers and ridiculously talented (to the point it would be rude how talented they are if they weren't so awesome).

However, when people leave "constructive criticism" on a fic/chapter, it doesn't really help because I only post things once they're finished for me.

Someone saying they don't enjoy xyz plot ploint because it was OOC for them, or it had a plot point they couldn't overlook, won't be helpful for me because I am not going to retroactively go back and change things so they would be "better". I'm no longer constructing the story, so to say, I've already constructed it. So, no matter how constructive someone tries to make their criticism, receiving it at that point is not helpful, which is what constructive criticism is supposed to be at its core.

Now, could a case be made that the constructive criticism is there to help me become a better writer? Maybe. But to that my answer is, I don't see why I should become a better writer? Or why I should even want to?

Fanfic is a hobby for me. It's something I do in my free time be because I love and enjoy doing it. It's a hobby. I don't have to be good at my hobbys. Sure, it can be fun to reread older fics and compare them to newer ones and see where I've progressed and such, but getting better is never the end goal when I'm writing. It's not even really A goal. The goals are to have fun playing around in my favourite fandoms along with other people who also love those same fandoms.

Then there's also the part where fanfic is something people write and share for free, and as someone who has eaten the occasional slightly dry cookie from colleagues who baked them and brought them to the office, it's just rude to give criticism when people make and share things with you for free.

7. How do you choose which POV to write from?

I already answered this one in a previous ask, but it's a combination of "what would fit the story the best" and "the characters are just doing as they please and I'm simply reporting", lol.

12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

I thankfully do get a lot of feedback and support from friends. So, we're generally just all encouraging one another and sharing snippets between all of us to cheer one another on, especially when we're trying to get out of a writing slump. And it really helps me personally. I write a lot easier when I can have someone I can just throw snippets at, even if it's just to get out of my head that it isn't the worst thing to ever grace the world or ao3. It also helps when my English.exe software isn't working, because I can just ask one of the native speakers for word suggestions and such. So, I would say very positive impact because it helps me feeling more at ease with writing. :)

Hiatus

Just want to say that I am going to be on and off till next week a lot less frequently, and from the 14th of December til the end of January (not really clear at this point) I am going on hiatus. So if you think that I don’t care about the things you tag me in (not true) or I am dead (hopefully not true) then know that I am just unable to access my computer like I usually do throughout the holidays then again I might never come back jk.

A thanks and a hearty cheer to all of my 37 followers who follow this crazy blog (when I get to 50 I will try to make something for you guys) and I wish all of you guys a wonderful holidays.

Also as a sidenote my birthday is this month (not telling the date) and tbh the only reason I say this is because I have nothing else to say. Feel free to take this anyway you want.

PS I do way too many brackets for my own good. And I don’t think I’ll queue at this point.
