More oamc asks! This time just me indulging in my two loves: sibling dynamics and Jaypaw. (Sorry if I'm asking too much at once, it's just all interconnected so it's easier on me. Also, I told you, this AU is super interesting to me the same way Whitewater was, and you know how much I asked about that one.)
So, how do Jaypaw and Breezepaw get along? I'm imagining they both clash a fair amount, on account of the attitude alone, not even mentioning the ego thing, but is there that nugget of sibling affection? If so, how do they express it, on both ends? And touching on how WindClan medicine cats are highly praised, is there any envy or jealousy factoring in the relationship? (And if you don't mind getting into spoiler territory, how does the relationship develop as they grow up? Does having a prophecy cat for a brother introduce some internal conflict on Breezepelt come the time for OotS? Does that plot even factor in here?)
And how's the relationship with the parents? Does either play favorites? Is Nightcloud's overprotectiveness amplified by Jay's particular circumstances or is she the same with Breeze? How do they feel about Jay's respected position? Does the ego that comes with that factor into conflict with them?

okay, uh, jay and breeze have a...complicated relationship.
so nightcloud is very protective of both of them. she lost two kits, so she's just. very attached. i haven't decided whether or not crow tells her the truth about jay (or even the certain details of what that is), but either way, she sees an abandoned kit, after two of her dies, and she is ready to Kill jay's (birth) mother
so she's already very protective, but jay is blind, which sort of. catalyzes everything into a not great situation. Unlike canon jay, it's Mostly Just Nightcloud, and. well it's Complex.
anyway, breeze is...not sure. how he feels, really. because on One Hand, he doesn't want jay's position. but on the other hand, he still feels like the black sheep.
they do love each other, but. it's definitely fraught. as they get older, it gets better. (like, adults-older.)
the prophecy doesn't Hugely effect things; it's not an ivy and dove situation. breeze and jay's relationship is directly a cause of their parents and how they feel and how they've been treated. neither of them are really able to Express themselves emotionally as kids.
so jay is latching on to this position-of-honour because he wants to prove he's capable to nightcloud, and breeze just wants to be Noticed, and jay is being noticed, but from jay's pov, breeze doesn't need to prove himself, and it's all a mess.
so they have to sort of work through that.
(i'm focusing on nightcloud, but it's a whole dysfunctional family. particularly, it's the dysfunctional family that Wants to be functional but doesn't know how. crow has his part to play, and they all love each other. it's just. How You Love people matters, too.)
jay and nightcloud have a very important reckoning at some point, i think. where she has to own up to the fact that she's not like. treating him as a competent cat. they've got rainflower and crookedjaw vibes, actually. it's not at all comparable, but they have similar Vibes.
and crow has to...i feel like crowfeather's trial is about this, but crow has to like. step up and be a part of his family. like. be a parent. yeah.
uhh i'm not sure if i actually answered ur q but yeah! it's Complex. it's not like. the Worst it could be. they do all love and care for each other and legitimately want to make things better. it just...takes a lot of maturity from them, and night and crow both have amends to make.
