Interesting to me that this must be said, but while (2 or 3 boards on) 4chan was a cesspool it was of monumental importance to the shaping of the internet. It's whole deal was being autistic about your fixations without anyone tracing your interests back to you, for better or for worse. I know some of y'all have kink blogs. It is very distressing that a website whose whole deal is being anonymous can just be uprooted. Does the loss of privacy not bother you? Do you put your name and all your disorders and your birthday in your profile? It's not about Chuds and Racists, it's about Privacy and Safety. Imagine all the LGBT ppl on this website just being fucking exposed to anyone who wants their information. Data brokers for sure have a hold of this shit and they're absolutely selling it to the government, and if you think that's a price worth paying for the group punishment of people you don't like? My boss is insistent on “staying the course” (her words) and keeping the library open despite the fact that we serve hundreds of elderly and people struggling with poverty due to medical issues and chronic illness. We can’t sanitize every item coming in. We don’t have enough supplies and we’ve been asked to ration what’s left since it’s unobtainable. So we’re exchanging books and letting people on the public computers, and so many of them are the target vulnerable population
