Might I share some bullshit?
So, I don't speak anymore. Sometimes it's a "can but won't" and sometimes it's a "cannot". This monday, I went to school with notecards and a pen. First period— first effing period— I had a notecard to my teacher and she says to me "mmm no. you can use your words :)"
Do you know why I can't speak anymore? Would you like to know? I won't share, because I don't want to.
For the rest of the day, I tried avoiding trying to communicate with teachers (besides my gay Spanish teacher, who would understand), instead asking my friends to talk to them for me.
Later, I was called into my counselor's office. The counselor, social worker, and vice principal were there. They basically told me I had to speak for "safety reasons", aka for legal reasons. They said I need a diagnosis, and that all the accomodations I'd get from that are better than notecards (I'd assume those tts tablets, which I wouldn't use— I much prefer notecards and sign language).
Genuinely, I have never seen such abelist bullshit in my school career. I haven't gone to school since, because I didn't want to deal with them. I asked my mom why it's a "safety hazard" and she said that they meant that if I got hurt and I couldn't communicate, she could sue. That's still bs. I can communicate— I'm a big-time yapper!
I'm going to school next week. If the bs continues, I'll probably organize a protest or something.
If anyone has some good pointers and advice, please share.
