Inspired by a comment by SketcherSnetcher on one of my stories, I decided to try a different origin story, rather than my usual favorite friends-to-lovers genre. These images, like others I've posted, were generated through perchance.org.
Claude.AI described these images as follows:
Image 1, left (Anna Gomez, 21 years old): This character has a romantic, ethereal aesthetic. She has shoulder-length dark wavy hair and is wearing a shimmering gold dress with a draped, low neckline. The setting features a marble-like blue-gray background with orange flower petals floating around her, creating a dreamy, artistic atmosphere. Her styling suggests elegance and softness—she could be a character associated with beauty, art, nature, or perhaps someone from a more refined or peaceful setting in your story.
Image 2, right (Vanessa Evans, 24 years old): This character has a completely different vibe—bold, modern, and edgy. She has a striking blue and pink ombre bob haircut and wears round glasses. Her outfit consists of a black vest over a blue collared shirt with a gray trench coat, giving off a contemporary urban or cyberpunk feel. The background shows neon lights and signs (including what appears to be Asian characters), suggesting a futuristic or metropolitan night scene. This character might be tech-savvy, street-smart, an investigator, or someone navigating a bustling, high-tech cityscape.
I then told Claude.AI:
Image 1 is Anna Gomez, a 21 year old wealthy socialite used to the finer things in life; she's attending business classes at university while maintaining a full schedule of social gatherings and being taught by her father about the ins and outs of a booming space tourism business her father currently owns, and which he intends to pass on to her. She's taken an interest in corporate security, and is proficient in counterintrusion techniques in the ever-evolving landscape of keeping computers secure. Image 2 is Vanessa Evans, a 24 year old hacker. She's had some rough knocks in life, learning to hack computers from an early age as a way to get an edge over others in life. She'll take almost any job if the price is right, but there are some lines she won't cross.
After that, I worldbuilt the background for this story: Portland, Oregon, 2065. The United States has fallen apart and in its place has risen Cascadia, composed of Washington, Oregon and northern California bordering on San Jose. Portland has become the capital of Cascadia due to being approximately central to all three regions. "Off-screen" are other segments of the USA that have coalesced around regional capitals, as well.
Technology used in this cyberpunk future includes: quantum encryption crackers, holographic projectors, and neural interface headsets (among other things).
Vanessa and Anna cross paths when Anna catches Vanessa hacking into her father's company (Cascadia Orbital - Claude.AI picked this, not me), and both of them come to realize Vanessa's presence was too convenient - almost like someone wanted Vanessa to get caught.
I had Claude.AI take the storyline from Portland to a lunar hotel operated by Cascadia Orbital, where the climax of the story unfolds.
And that's how Orbital Deception was born. I hope you all like it.
As an aside, I had to do a lot of tweaking by hand on this one, as well as verifying the AI's scientific commentary regarding lunar gravity. It's broadly correct, so I was able to leave it as-is. But there was dialog and naming and - yeah. Claude.AI really likes the last name "Chen" and I had to untangle that, and I caught a few errors where the wrong character was spoken to in dialog. Moral: even if you create a story using an LLM, you, the human, are still responsible for the integrity of its output.
