Just decided to start plotting out a Reader Insert longfic for One Piece, so here's the original Devil Fruit I came up with for Reader.

Ask-Ask no mi

Paramecia; Questioning Human

Grants the user the ability to ask questions that must be answered truthfully by saying "Anonymous asked" before the question.

The tell-tale sign of the fruit activating is a grey text box that appears containing the question. The box will appear both near the user and the person being questioned, including groups, unless they're already standing close to each other of course.

The fruit can also alter reality by the user not asking a question and instead making a statement. (example "Anonymous asked: for the next twenty-four hours, Garp is clumsy")

The fruit cannot alter things that would deactivate it, like seastone, conqueror's haki, or saltwater.

The questions can be asked from any distance as long as the user knows the person's name. Otherwise, they need to be able to see the person to Ask them.

The user cannot directly use their fruit on themself (though there are loopholes to this) and the effects of Statements have to be temporary with an imposed time limit (a week max) or they will not work.

The user can always hear the responses to their questions no matter the distance, but others around them do not share this privilege. The questions & statements cannot be interrupted past "Anonymous asked", only being able to be cancel by the user.

This fruit is extensively documented in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, and the user always has pitch-black eyes with white question mark shaped pupils. Most users cover their eyes because of this.

There is no limit to how many Asks the user can make, they can keep it up for as long as they can keep talking.

Some more orderly ideas on Luis' devil fruits powers and a short drabble that might become part of the main storyline of the AU

Important note: devil fruits have some semblance of will when just fruit and can do little tricks to get to whoever they think is best suited for them.

Especially mythical zoans, these basically have entities living in them, bored unless someone eats the damn thing

So, Neko-neko no mi model Nekomata

The most obvious thing, allows the user to turn into a two tailed cat of whatever size they choose, Luis always picks small, he's not a fighter.

Main power - illusions

Can make people see things that aren't there. Or simply make things appear out of thin air

There's always some small flames around the target/area of the illusion

Can show you calm and relaxing things to make you relax, make you think you're needed somewhere else, that you're sick, wounded, literally anything and as long the target isn't all that much stronger it'll work out

If someone's strong enough, they'll be aware they're under an illusion, but it'll be like a lucid dream you can't wake up from, you're aware it's not real, but you're still trapped here, seeing this thing

Little drabble for fun (might include it somewhere in the story)

“Tell me about your devil fruit?” Lilli requested, currently curled up in an infirmary bed next to Luis’ desk.

“I'm afraid there's not much to tell since I don't use it for much, being a doctor and so on,” Luis shrugged over his papers.

“Anything is fine,” Killi continued, making himself as cute as he could look. Anything to get something to distract his mind from the fact they're currently under water, and going lower and lower.

“I can turn into a cat.”

“A cute cat,” he cut in with a smile.

“A cat of nearly any size I want, I simply prefer the smaller size. I have fire power enough to light a candle,” he hummed, abandoning his work to watch Killie. “I noticed you no longer have your helmet on, is it going to be okay?”

“Ahh, that thing? I'll be fine, I'm still immortal even if I heal a bit slower, plus Daniela is making me a respirator mask in case I ever do need it,” he shrugged nonchalantly.

“You'll need a check up anyway, but I'll let it wait until we resurface.”

“I don't remember even going to a doctor. In Mariejois I was always somehow healthy even before the mark. And even before that…. I can't really recall ever seeing one while with Marco,” he shrugged, wrapping himself up in his new jacket. “Back to your powers, what else can you do?”

“Illusions, I guess, as I said I don't use it for much,” Luis shrugged and returned to his work.

“You should train with it a little bit, for self defense?”

“Are you offering to train me?” Luis' time was teasing as he gave Killingham a side look.

“Dreams and illusions aren't that far off,” he shrugged.

“I don't really need to defend myself from much, with Sabo, and you and everyone else I feel rather safe. And Shams taught me some observation.”

Killingham could feel his face heating up.

Spell Spell fruit

Current User: IN CIRCULATION

Appearance: covered in various letters and almost reddish hue, the faint smell of a tomato based soup surrounds it.

Abilities: The user becomes a spelling human, capable of harnessing the power of words they can spell. by speaking loudly and clearly they can form words in the air using various letters. Once they combine they cause various effects to happen dependant on the word.

Strengths: Versatility is the greatest strength of the fruit, but requires great vocabulary knowledge to utilize fully. Spelling objects will cause them to appear for a day, effects such as fire can be conjured and thrown. Once a word is spelled, they only need to repeat the word to cause it to happen again but once they spell another word they will need to spell it again to use it.

Example: "E-X-P-L-O-S-I-O-N, EXPLOSION, EXPLOSION EXPLOSION" the repeated use of the word causing many explosions in the area.

Volume = Size/Power

Adjectives can weaken or strengthen things, throwing the combined word into something can imbue that something with that property. Bigger, stronger, faster are all valid and can even create temporary powers.

The user can create specific objects if focusing and are uninterrupted, imbuing adjectives and specific descriptions and requiring some words needing to be spelled out loud during the process. If interrupted the whole process explodes, the longer the process was the bigger the failure explosion.

Example: spelling cannon will give a standard cannon. if you wanted a rifled, triple barrel, repeating shot cannon that shoots specialized explosive compound shells, would require the user to use the above process and take the time to specify specifics.

Power word Verbs can force someone to act, though it's up to them how they carry that action out. "Run" can force someone to run but not the direction. "Miss" can cause an attack to miss but not redirect it to hit something specifically, though they have to hit them with the word like a throwing weapon.

Weakness: Taking out letters while they are spelling can cause the attempt to fail or even cause a completely different result. Removing some letters, if able to spell a different word can create one not intended. The user must be able to speak and spell out loud.

Some adjectives and 'absolute' words are far more temporary. "invincibility" "strongest" "fastest" can only last a few seconds to minutes because of the power of the word and drains the user faster than most word. Words with this fruit carry more weight and will tax the user if abused.

Some words are too heavy to even attempt. Death, dying, extinction and annihilation are some examples of no matter what attempting the words fizzle out or even could cause grievous harm to the user. When thinking if a word might be too powerful, it may fall under this caveat.

Verbs and adjectives can be broken through sheer will and haki, especially if used to weaken.

The user is not able to conjure living things by spelling, though some objects may be animated with the right words.

Awakening: When awakened, the user can see and take someones if spelled out loud, giving them control over them, holding the physical name in the user's hand. upon release the name will return to the user and their hold over them off. (reminiscent of how knowing a demon's true name gives you power over them)

Usage: Previous user unknown but documented, their moves weren't.

Meta: the design is very Campbell's Alphabet Soup inspired. Want to be a witch or a wizard? this would be your best chance at it in one piece with a devil fruit. though in writing this it's also very Scribblenaughts as well, unintended but not unwelcome.

Original Devil Fruit Ideas

Niji Niji no Mi (Rainbow-Rainbow Fruit)

The Niji Niji no Mi is a paramecia that allows anyone who eats this devil fruit become a distortion human. Which lets the user bend, twist, and reflect objects. The objects can be both material like metals and wood or intangible like air and light. However, it can’t affect organic matter such as humans.

The user can use this power to bend light around their body to enhance their strength, go invisible, and create a shield to keep enemy attacks from reaching them. Those that master this fruit can even use it to create illusions.

Chi Chi no Mi (Blood-Blood Fruit)

The Chi Chi no Mi is a paramecia that allows anyone who eats it to become a blood human. Which lets them create (well create more) and manipulate blood for a variety of purposes. These include, attack, defense, recovery, and even controlling the enemy.

The user can launch blades of blood or create creatures out of blood to attack their enemies. They can also harden their blood to make it so blades can’t leave deep cuts. The user can also change the blood type of the blood they create for blood transfusions. If the user’s own blood enters the opponent’s wounds then they can even take control of the opponent’s body. The more of the user’s blood in the enemy, the easier it is to control them.

Orora Orora no Mi (Aurora-Aurora Fruit)

The Orora Orora no Mi is a logia devil fruit that turns the person who eats it into an aurora human or northern lights human.

This devil fruit gives the user the abilities of the Pika Pika no Mi (Blink-Blink Fruit or Light-Light Fruit) and the Jiki Jiki no Mi (Magnet-Magnet Fruit). Basically allowing the user to turn themselves into and produce light while also giving them control over magnetism as well.

Gitai Gitai no Mi (Mimic-Mimic Fruit)

The Gitai Gitai no Mi is a paramecia devil fruit that allows anyone who eats it to become a learning human.

The user of this devil fruit is able to freely copy any technique they see. The user can also make their clothes mimic the properties of other substances such as iron. If the user is advanced enough, they can also use their hair to create copies of themselves.

Awakening

If the user manages to awaken their devil fruit, they’ll find out that it is a mythical zoan type similar to the Gomu Gomu no Mi.

The devil fruit’s new name is the Saru Saru no Mi, Model: Sun Wukong (Simian-Simian Fruit, Model: Monkey King).

The devil fruit now gives the user all of the abilities of the Monkey King.

Kotoba Kotoba no Mi (Word-Word Fruit)

The Kotoba Kotoba no Mi is a paramecia devil fruit that turns anyone who eats it into a word human.

The user of this devil fruit can create words and make them come to life. They can use this power for attack, defense, and to enhance others.

Example

The user can make the word blizzard create a blizzard.

The user can make the word wall produce a wall.

The user can make the word strengthen to enhance someone’s strength.

The stronger the word, the more energy it requires to create and activate. So what words can be used depends on the user’s current strength.

Nesuto Nesuto no Mi (Nest-Nest Fruit)

The Nesuto Nesuto no Mi is a paramecia devil fruit that turns anyone who eats it into a nest human.

This devil fruit allows the user to turn their body and the bodies of others into nests to spawn various species of bird that are loyal to the one wielding the Nest Fruit.

Tawā Tawā no Mi (Tower-Tower Fruit)

The Tawā Tawā no Mi is a paramecia devil fruit that turns anyone who eats it into a tower human.

The powers of the Tawā Tawā no Mi work similarly to the Shiro Shiro no Mi (Castle-Castle Fruit) by turning the user’s body into a structure to store items in. However, unlike the Castle Fruit, the Tower Fruit is much more self sustaining. The user of this devil fruit is able to spawn creatures inside their body similar to an rpg game over time that can later be released to attack those outside of the user’s body.

The strength and amount of creatures created over time depends on the devil fruit eater’s strength. The stronger the user gets, the stronger the creatures are and the higher their creation rate is. The user can also give the creatures equipment and train them to further strengthen them.

However, this devil fruit doesn’t provide the same mobility as the Castle Fruit.

For me a mythical zoan snake snake fruit: type wyrm, with weather altering powers. Or a simply fruit that works best with shyness.

I love creating original Devil Fruits so much you have no idea

My self-insert OC Pe'a canonically doesn't have one in her current iteration, but I have come up with a Fruit for myself before!

It's called the Hive-Hive Fruit/Subako-Subako No Mi

It's a Paramecia, and if you've listened to The Magnus Archives, I'm telling you now– this is basically just The Corruption as a Fruit.

The User's body becomes a living hive for a massive swarm of insects. What type of insect varies depending on the individual, but for myself, it's calleta silkmoths.

Due to their body being a living hive, the User doesn't technically have organs, instead the insects handle keeping the body operating in exchange for food & shelter.

If the User is harmed, the insects will emerge to defend them, alongside an oddly colored (pitch-black in my case but it depends on the individual) honey-like goo. Said goo is what's left of the Host's original organs.

These insects are infinite in number, more being spawned from the goo just as one goes down. They are still insects, so they can't do much individually, and the amount that emerge entirely depends on the size of the injury.

The insects can repair the User/Host's body themselves, akin to regeneration. It's not extremely fast, but quicker than normal human injuries healing.

The only way to permanently kill the insects without any more emerging from the goo is to submerge the Host in seawater, of course. Or apply seastone. They'll continue emerging the second the sea isn't a factor.

The insects will still respawn if killed by Haki, since they don't have Wills of their own and instead operate entirely on instinct and vague input from the Host, who cannot exactly control them, just lightly suggest who to aim for.

The User's diet will shift towards the preferred diet of the insects, but they can eat anything and they won't care. Food is food.

This is not a fun Devil Fruit to have. It's annoying at best and horrifying at worst.
