It is the Second World War, and the US has entered the conflict after the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941.

In June 1942, Mary Devereux works under her father for LIFE magazine — in fact, it was her own tip that spurred the famous paratrooper article into existence the year prior. Hungry for recognition, she convinces her father to let her travel to Camp Toccoa, Georgia to report on the new crop of hopeful paratroopers the Army has begun to train for the war.

Her assignment is Easy Company.

But the end of the fighting is a distant prospect, and the truth is more important than ever in times of war and waste. Easy Company will embark on a long and arduous campaign across the European Theatre, and Mary will be with them every step of the way — even if Dick Winters wishes she weren’t.
