@parabolabear and my fellow Metsblrs: it is my birthday, so it's time to confess something:
I went to an orioles game.
and uh, I did cry.
join me in crying:
And what happened RIGHT before Pete hit that home run? My dad yelled "we missed you Pete". right before Pete smacked it out of the park. No, no I'm not okay. Fuck I CRIED in PUBLIC. I got to see another Pete Alonso homer in person before I died. What the fuck?
other notable tragedies:
the first 2 outs of the game was Pete catching a line drive and picking off the guy on first for a double out. I lost my mind. I had forgotten what a true 1st baseman looked like.
One of the last outs was Pete on 1st base as the other teams 1st basemen did the SAME FUCKING PLAY to him. It hurt deeply.
That cup. misery, suffering, agony. that cups image is THE image from Pete's biggest home run as a NY met. Just edited the image, orange and birdy. Kill me.
my uncle got me to souvenir cup and didn't notice it was Pete Alonso on the cup till I did. My depression was accidental. He was concerned. He apologized to me.
Pete kept hitting foul balls into the section next to mine. If I left with an orioles Pete Alonso foul ball I think I would have become a monk and shriveled up to die in the earth somewhere in Antarctica, where the polar bears would no longer leave me here in New York cold and alone.
and despite that score in the outfield, the Mets actually managed to beat the dodgers that day.
but the orioles lost.
“and he just finished the world’s most thorough, intense, sensual post-home run routine with adley rutschman there. it seems to be getting more and more…complex…his post-celebration with adley.”
