TRIGGERS: Abuse
Orion is the oldest child of Bennett and Eliza Boyd, who met each other at a roller rink in a podunk little Minnesota town. Two rebellious teens who quickly fell in love, they vowed to travel, to see the ocean, and ultimately, to stay together forever. And they did it all. They bought an old beat-up van and drove through the US. They played guitars on moonlit nights, sitting on the roof and watching fireflies. And when Eliza got pregnant, they knew they’d name their first born son after the constellation they sat under when they conceived him.
When Orion came into the world, Bennett and Eliza were thrilled, and had no plans to stop their travel. Toddling little Orion came with them as they drove through dusty mid-western states, along the western coast, and even into Mexico. He was a creative little kid who loved animals and begged for a dog. His mother homeschooled him, teaching him the fundamentals for preschool and kindergarten. Since they traveled so often, he didn’t get to make a lot of friends. When his sister Berryhill came along, his parents began debating more and more the possibility of settling down… at least so their kids could get a proper education. After a few more years of going from place to place, Eliza and Ben settled down in a cute little home in California. Ben found an old shack on a picturesque beach and fixed it up, turning it into a perfect spot to rent out boogie boards, surfboards, snorkel gear, and grab a snack.
As Orion got older, the third Boyd sibling, Sunshine, was born. Orion loved teaching Berry and Sunny everything he knew about surfing, and the three of them spent many afternoons running around in the sand until they came back to the surf shack to help their dad close up for the night. As Orion got older, he studied and worked at the shack, debating college and secondary education. But he wasn’t too smart, and didn’t think he’d do too well. Still, he tried. Eventually, Orion was running the shack on his own for days on end while their parents traveled again, studying at night. Orion would watch Sunny and Berry, make sure they were getting on the bus for school, and would run the little shop on weekends while attending college. He was dating a beautiful girl, going surfing every day, and working towards a future.
Orion didn’t talk about the fights with his long-time girlfriend Emma very often. He figured people wouldn’t really take it seriously- an adult man, 6′7″, getting slapped around and made fun of by his 5′7″ girlfriend? It was laughable, right? After being guilted into moving with her to Chicago for her to pursue a reporter job, Orion found himself presented with a new start, in a new place. He hated Chicago but adapted quickly, meeting new friends at a local drag and karaoke bar, and realizing his own self worth. After a nasty fight left him with fingernail scratches across his face and bruises on his arms, he broke it off with his then fiancée. Since then he’s really come into his own. Orion started drag- something Emma never would’ve condoned, and met so many amazing and supportive friends. He has started working in wildlife conservation and is living on his own with his rescue, Jupiter, and his 8 chickens.
Orion Boyd is a 39 year old full-time paramedic, part-time drag queen who originally hails from San Francisco. He was born to two absolute hippies who raised him out of an old RV- but he grew up with so much love and acceptance that he never wanted for anything in his life. Backstory/Background:
Past
In the year 2200 those who had inhabited the planet earth eventually started traveling and settling out on the other planets surrounding their planet. Humans have spread out, making stations and other populated area's in the surrounding worlds. As time went on and the humans spread across the galaxy laws became more lax, and most planets did their own things, often being completely opposite from just a neighboring planets, entirely.
Most containing mostly aliens, or other supernatural creatures on them, with very few humans to be bothered by. In this world there are many events, but one of it's most talked is the plans for a race. This race is often life or death, with many risks that the crews of the ships have to take in order to reach the ultimate prize. But there's just one problem, this race will take years to put together, as there is so much space to cover for this event.
Orion was born somewhere in the 2220's, near the time when the plans for the race were to begin. Orion was born on a ship, one his father had been the captain of for quite a long time. For most of his life he never knew what it was like to stand on actual dirt, or to touch it or smell it at all. All the air he breathed in was what what the ship provided for him and the others on the ship in which he lived.
With living on the ship, and his father being the captain, he learned at an early age how to captain, and maintain a crew. When it eventually came time to actually learn how to fly the ship, Orion seemed to be a natural.
When his father eventually died, while Orion was still too young to be seen as a 'proper captain' by most of the crew, the crew abandoned the ship to go live and make a life on the surrounding planets. This left Orion and the very few remaining crew to decide what they would do next.
And what they would do next would probably not be something Orion’s father would at all approve of. Because they decided to be pirates. What's more fun than being a space pirate, huh?

By the year 2250, Orion's ship, ΑΡΜΑΓΕΔΩΝ, had been known for it's pirating and was quickly becoming legend. A young captain sailing the skies, looting ships, attacking planets? And all just for ' fun'?! It seemed that Orion has built quite a reputation for having a bit too much fun with this little childish game he decided to play.
But he, nor his loyal crew seem to notice, or perhaps not care. And now, the legendary race, with it's many setbacks and being pushed back many years by other odd occurrences, has finally begun. You know Orion didn't want to miss out on that, so he signed up his crew and has some pretty interesting plans for the rest of the participants in the race.
