Orkos cool. The people who say he's annoying. We're angry that he wasn't immediately overpowered.
There seems to be this concept among fans of action media that for a character to be "worthy" of being liked, they must be powerful and good at kicking butt.
But that flies in the face of everything the original Filmation He-Man was trying to teach. More often than not, conflicts in the Filmation show were resolved by He-Man finding a non-violent, even peaceful solution to problems. (And that's just talking about in-episode content, not even touching on the "moral of today's story" at the end of every episode.)
Anyone who is angry that Orko (or any character for that matter) isn't overpowered and able to kick serious butt, is someone who has dramatically misunderstood the subject matter.
Orko's value is not in his magic or his ability to kick butt.
Orko's value is in the fact that he's an adorable little sweater baby who floats around on eye-level with He-Man to spite being only 2-feet tall.
