Happy Trails to Reeve Carney 🎸🥀
To Orpheus, and all of us..Goodnight, brothers, goodnight!
I’m days late but still wanted to do something to contribute to @reevepheusweek 🖤
Thank you Reeve Carney for an amazing performance of one of my favorite characters ever!! You’ll be missed 🎸🥀
Since Reeve Carney is leaving Hadestown soon, from November 12th to 19th we're going to celebrate Orpheus Week in his honor!
Day 1, November 12th, "To the Sunshine and the Fruit of the Vine" (Edmonton): A day dedicated to the first, rural incarnation of Reeve's Orpheus in the Edmonton era of Hadestown
Day 2, November 13th, "Always had a Crowd" (London): A day dedicated to London's stylish rockstar incarnation of Reeve's Orpheus, who never walked alone
Day 3, November 14th, "Touched by the Gods" (Broadway): A day dedicated to the Broadway incarnation of Reeve's Orpheus, the sweet bartender who lives under Hermes's wing
Day 4, November 15th, "I Believe in Us Together" (Love/Relationships): A day dedicated to Orpheus's relationships in general, whether with Eurydice, Hermes, Persephone, the Workers, even an OC!
Day 5, November 16th, "If It's True what They Say" (Grief/Poverty): A day dedicated to Orpheus's circumstances and lowest points in his life
Day 6, November 17th, "Spring Will Come Again" (Nature/Environment): A day dedicated to Orpheus's love for and connection to Nature in general, and his environmentalism
Day 7, November 18th, "Working on a Song" (Music): A day dedicated to Orpheus's musical gifts and his writing/composing process!
Day 8, November 19th, "To Orpheus and All of Us" (Free Day): This is the day we bid Reeve's Orpheus goodbye, so feel free to contribute to the final toast with anything!
Just tag us (@reevepheusweek) and/or tag your work with #Orpheusweek and we'll reblog! (Or send us the link if it's an external work, like a fanfic in AO3 or a Youtube performance!) Submit your fanfics, fanarts, poetry, songs, anything for our beloved poor boy, whether new or old!
Spill a drop for Orpheus, wherever he is now...
For the first day of Orpheus week, about Edmonton, here's an Edmonton-based fanfic I wrote!
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14103420/1/Your-Home-and-Mine
Orpheus grew up with a love of nature and music and a distrust of the industries of Hadestown, but he didn't know the complexities of Persephone's love for Hades until he felt love at first sight himself-and the desire to share your home with someone you loved. Based on the Edmonton version of Hadestown.
Which do you say on accident?
Reeve is reeving
Leave is leaving
Depends on the instance
I’m too embarrassed/distraught/ayidhdheb to talk about this out loud
@reevepheusweek For the eighth and final day of Orpheus week (I am not ready ;-;), here's a post-canon fanfic where Orpheus tries to see Eurydice, things go pear-shaped, but in the end it just might work out.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13928494/1/The-Songs-People-Sing
What starts as a simple plan to sneak into Hadestown to see Eurydice leaves Orpheus in danger when he's captured by the Maenads and forced to sing endlessly to provide music for their revels. Hermes, Persephone, and Eurydice venture to rescue him before even Orpheus's voice gives out. Set post-turn.
@reevepheusweek For the fifth day of Orpheus week, I have a fanfic set post-canon where, despite Orpheus's best efforts, Hadestown sticks to him.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13777475/1/Eye-for-an-Eye
The problem with walking out of the Underworld was that, despite Orpheus's best efforts, it stayed with him. Hades considers this a fair trade.
@reevepheusweek For the third day of Orpheus week, here's a fanfic I wrote for the Broadway version of Hadestown!
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13869291/1/Through-a-Lens
Orpheus watched the newsreels and read the papers like the rest, learning of Hadestown and its world of promises and power. Thanks to Hermes, he knew half-truths were sometimes more dangerous than lies. A study of the world up top and down below.
