It's been storming so much recently that the thunder has been scaring my dog. So I was inspired to draw this comic of @pink-noah Typhon & my Echidna as new parents trying to comfort baby Orthrus & Cerberus when thunderstorms wind up scaring the puppies when they're trying to sleep.

Typhon, growling in anger: That’s the third thunder storm this week! (Picks up baby Cerberus to comfort him)
Echidna: I know babies. It’s hard to sleep with that mean old Zeus making a racket.
Typhon, in a soothing tone: I promise you both, when I take over. I’m going to rip out Zeus’ tendons for scaring you pups.
Echidna: That’s right, no more scary thunder when Daddy’s in charge~ We’ll make you boys a lullaby from Zeus’ anguished screams~
Tbh Typhon already has it out for Zeus to begin with, but the fact Zeus' thunder storms frightened every single one of his kids when they were babies, really adds to his hatred towards the Thunderbringer. Do u know how hard it is to get babies to sleep through the night?! Typhon & Echidna are both already sleep deprived as new parents! Now they have to sooth their poor terrified babies! STOP SCARING THE PUPPIES ZEUS!

Echidna: Our buh-babies are so beautiful *sobs*
Typhon: Of course they’re beautiful they take after you. This little one even looks a bit like your brother, Geryon.
Echidna: But I c-can’t…*sniff* I can't kiss all of their little faces at once! I j-just love them so mu-uuch… *Sobs*
Well Echidna just gave birth so she's still a little hormonal & emotional. Like wise Typhon is probably worried about his wife & babies. Sure Echidna is immortal but pregnancy & childbirth is still risky espically considering she has a snake tail instead of legs she would have difficulty moving during her last trimester. Also giving birth to babies with multiple heads just ouch 😬.
Sure Orthrus & Cerberus grow up to be large & fierce like Typhon, but for now his first born sons are vulnerable & blind little puppies that need their parents to protect them! Even with his formidibal repution Typhon still probably experenced first time dad anxiety of trying to figure out how to safely hold his newborn sons. Trying to gently cup his first born son in his massive clawed hands, he's so soft & small smelling of milk, but this tiny blind puppy feels safe enough with dad to fall alseep in his palm.😭
Concept portraits of @pink-noah Typhon & Echidna’s kids in modern au. While Typhon & Echidna are both known & feared for their ruthless criminal activities, they are also known to be very happily married & devoted to each other. Which has resulted in having a lot of children together, so far they have 8 kids of various ages from mid 20s to their youngest at 8yrs old. Raising that many kids together means their children have taken up multiple interests, hobbies, & lessons over the years. But there are a few skills Typhon & Echidna insist all their kids learn; how to swim, emergency first aid, & how to safely handle firearms.
Info & headcanons about the kids:
Orthrus is Typhon & Echidna’s first born & eldest son. He is the first of his siblings to leave home for college, & decide he didn’t want to be part of the “family business.” It probably caused a bit of tension with his parents at first, what with being the eldest & possible heir. Eventually they realized & accepted Orthrus wouldn’t be happy or suited for that kind of life. Now Orthrus works as a ranch hand for his Uncle Geryon, with a couple of cattle herding dogs.
Cerberus is the second son & the most friendly of his siblings. It often worried his parents, who feared Cerberus would get taken advantage of because of his affectionate personality. However just because Cerberus is a sweetheart compared to the rest of his family doesn’t mean he isn’t potentially dangerous. Cerberus is fiercely protective & will relentlessly hunt down anyone he thinks is a threat. Which is why Hades winds up hiring him as a security guard. With Cerberus’ upbringing he can spot gaps in security for Hades jewelry stores, as well as identifying if someone is casing the shops, & where to locate possible fences if valuable pieces do go missing. Also his amiable personality makes Cerberus popular with his coworkers & helps with training his 3 security dogs. As for his boss he thinks it’s sweet how much Hades dotes & adores his wife, kind of reminds Cerberus of his own parents’ marriage. Which is fitting considering Echidna is a fan of many of the jewelry pieces Hades’ businesses sell & desgine. So Cerberus’ll often use his employee discount to pick out gifts for Mother’s day, &/or assist his dad when Typhon needs help finding the right gift for their anniversary, or her birthday.
Scylla, their eldest daughter, does get involved in the family business as an enforcer. While Scylla has a more petite build like her mother, she shares her father’s penchance for physical violence & brutality, usually delivered with a baseball bat. She also has 6 dogs her brother Cerberus helped her train.
Sphinx like her sister is also an enforcer for their family, & known for her intelligence & cunning. While she’s close in age to Scylla, she prefers a more meticulous approach to her job. Her favored tools are usually leather gloves & piano wire, & she ensures the scene is thoroughly cleaned of prints, blood, & evidence before she finishes a job. This also means she sometimes gets into petty sibling arguments with Scylla about not allowing food, or dogs in her Jaguar because they make a mess. Sphinx earned that sports car for graduating top of her class & tutoring her younger siblings! While Sphinx also shares her mothers fashion sense & is often seen in very chic designer clothes, she also picked up her fathers habit of toying with her victims before killing them by playing mind games.
Leo the middle child is already taller than his mother & siblings at 16 yrs old. Like most teenagers he cares a lot about what his peers think of him so he tends to be very vain about his appearance, especially his hair. This often gets him into arguments with his siblings because he often hogs the bathroom when styling his hair. Leo has been very athletic from a young age due to his size & strength, & has won many trophies & medals from various sports over the years. Currently he’s on the school wrestling team, & while he appreciates his family supporting him, he often gets embarrassed by his parents trying to "encourage" him to rip his opponent's head off.
The twins Ladon & Lerna are both very particular about their individual personal preferences. Landon almost exclusively drinks Golden apple juice from Hesperides’ Orchards, while Lerna prefers milk, Lerna likes foods with intense flavors, while Ladon prefers milder foods, ect. They are also very particular about who they socialize with outside of their family. The twins tend to be very cliquey & feared at their school. They are also prone to using gossip & blackmail to keep their classmates in line.
Chimera is the youngest of the family & seems be a typical 8 yr old girl for the most part…except for some budding arsonist tendencies. She often feels frustrated when her siblings treat her like a baby since she’s so much younger than the rest of them. Often being told she’s too young or little to go with them, either because they’re doing something dangerous like Scylla & Sphinx, or they don’t want to be embarrassed hanging out with little kids like Leo & the twins. This makes Chimera often miss her favorite brother, Orthrus, as he often used to babysit Chimera & her siblings before he moved out. Orthrus always used to play with her & made sure she didn’t feel left out of things just because she’s the youngest. However Chimera also gets anxious if her parents possibly have another baby, because she’s scared she’ll lose her parents' attention. Typhon & Echidna both try to reassure Chimera that they won’t love her any less, if they do have more children.

Also Hesiod: "Echidna was subject in love to Orthus and brought forth the deadly Sphinx which destroyed the Cadmeans..."
Many sources state that the Sphinx was the daughter of Chimera and Orthus and instert Hesiod's Theogony as the source for it, yet Hesiod literally said that Echidna had sex with her own son.
Now I'm starting to realize not only that the Sphinx was the product of a Mother-Son incestous relationship, but that she also happened to meet Oedipus, the guy who was destined to have an incestous relationship with his mother himself without being aware of that. Wheter this is purely coincidental or ancient poets were purposefully creating this connection it's still a nice detail.
So. In Greek mythology, Cerberus was the only 3 headed doggo. BUT! Did you know that he had a......brother! His name was OTHRUS!!!!! Unfortunately, Hercules murdered him.
So in Disney Twisted Wonderland, during Book 7, we are introduced to Othro's new gear Cerberus! And his two cute robo-doggos! Which spoilers Mallues destroyed them.
