(After much deliberation) Orynthia is likely to be the one to steal the covers, as she is quite petite and tends to get cold rather easily. Klement is much of the opposite, and he’d be more of the type to push the blankets to the end of the bed or tuck Orynthia back if he notices she’s uncovered. On the other hand, because Kovaal does not sleep, he is generally on cover duty and makes sure that both of his partners are comfortable as they sleep. He generally takes it upon himself to do maintenance-related tasks when Klement and Orynthia are asleep, but there are definitely nights where he gets caught in between them in bed and has to stay put for the whole night (tag-team vicegrip, lol).
During her deployment to Frostfire Ridge, Orynthia was held hostage by a band of orcs. Her captors set her free, but not without taking a victory prize...
Orynthia fastens her cloak to her person and turns to look at Klement as he does the same. Usually, they both maintained a calm exterior in the face of looming conflict, but without Kovaal present, the two appeared to be especially tense. The anchorite exhaled softly as she walked over to the Vindicator, doing her best to give him an even smile and quell her own nerves. She places a gentle hand on Klement's arm.
"It won't be for too much longer, Klement. Kovaal will rendezvous with us as soon as we've secured the refugees." It had become routine by now--locate a village, determine the patrol patterns, and then they would move in and offer the civilians safe travel to Kalimdor, away from Sylvanas. Other than a stab wound and a few run-ins with some nasty patrols, the trio's plan had worked thus far.
Klement attempted to mirror her actions to calm himself, his voice barely above a whisper as he addressed the anchorite in turn. "The stakes are beginning to get more dire, First Anchorite. The closer we get to Quel'thalas, the more likely we are to run into the Banshee Queen herself." He was not saying this necessarily for them to stop, more to voice his own concerns for the path that lay ahead.
Before Orynthia could reply, something flashed in the distance that gave them both pause. Almost indiscernible to someone who was not looking for it - a brief blue flash of lichfire from Kovaal that would be their signal to move out. She looks back at Klement, who already had raised his hood and was ready to go. Orynthia would do the same, and they would immediately set off to a small village that lingered in the distance.
They both ran as they crossed the clearing, only stopping once their hooves made contact with the cobblestone streets of the small village. It looked to be a ghost town--and though there were signs of life by way of candles lit in windows, no one dared to walk the streets alone at this hour. Not if you wanted to be seen again. Klement and Orynthia would have to go door-to-door, hoping that the Forsaken families would not betray them to the Dark Lady's patrols.
The two made their way down an alley, preferring to stay under the cover of midnight. Their hooves splashed in a still puddle as they eyed the local parish just across the way. This had routinely been their first stop, as most of the refugees had opted to sleep in one area to keep better track of their numbers. And perhaps to offer prayers to a force that Orynthia feared was not listening. As Klement and Orynthia neared the end of the dark alley, the anchorite felt her stomach turn in anticipation. She matched the vindicator’s large strides, fighting to conceal the steam from her breath as she pulls the hood of her cloak over her mouth.
As they were just about to cross the brief hum of their crystalline communicators made them both stop dead in their tracks. Their communicator’s signals were highly trackable, and it only meant one of two things: they were in danger, or Kovaal was.
Klement was the first to react as he brought his communicator to his face. It barely illuminated his features against the inky darkness. Kovaal’s hollow voice could be heard as he addressed the Hierarch.
“--Patrol approaching from the southeast, making headway to your location. I repeat, abandon positions.”
Klement immediately stuffed the communicator back to his side as he quickly turns on Orynthia. “There is no time to waste, First Anchorite. We need to leave before we are caught.” His request was clear and simple, but Orynthia was not so quick to abandon her post.
“If we do not do this now, we will not have another opportunity. If we can make it into the church, they will be able to hide us--there has to be another way.” As she said this, she began to scan the vicinity in hopes of a basement or hidden entry that could hide them until the patrol passed. She could feel Klement tense at her side, but both of them were too late.
“--Hey! There’s somethin’ over here, boss. I’m gonna check it out.” The sickly voice of a Forsaken was loud enough to reverberate across the village. It was only a matter of moments before their position would be revealed.
Klement’s hand moved to the weapon at his side, and Orynthia immediately grabs it. “If we fight them, we will not have the opportunity to come back here. Those people--” she points to the church, “--will perish by Sylvanas’s hand, and I cannot let that happen again. You.. have to follow my lead on this, Hierarch.”
She held her breath, waiting for the patrol to round the corner as she does the first thing that comes to mind. Grabbing either side of Klement’s cloak, Orynthia pulls the vindicator’s face to hers, her lips brushing tenderly against the other’s as she held on for what felt like an eternity.
The Forsaken rounded the corner just in time to see the kiss, the remnants of his face scrunching as he turns back to his squad leader. “Eh.. False alarm, just some kids smackin’ lips. Get back home, you two--you know there’s a curfew in place.”
He soon makes his way back to his squad leader, leaving Klement and Orynthia to themselves once more. She releases his cloak, but for a moment they linger, taking a moment to steady their breaths as they just avoided sudden death.
Her mother rounded her as an individual in her past, but as far as current in-game characters-- @rhaeusthelightscorned, @shanlorel, @wineandsalt‘s Klement and @karabored‘s Kovaal :-)
