My favorite type of duo dynamic (sometimes ships) is that when you ask me to summarize what they actually are, I can only say ‘it’s complicated’ (or they're twins). Most of the time, they have a long history with too many twists and turns that can only be theirs. Sometimes, their relationship can not be fitted into one word. It's a kind of bond that covers too many kinds of relationships and can not be truly understood by others besides them. But recently, I finally found a description that satisfied me.
One and only.
They are each other's ‘one and only’. The person who was their many firsts, the person who affected the trajectory of their life in a way no one else can, the person that they feel like meeting them is a fated event, the person that even after meeting so many other people, friends and foes alike, no one can ever replace them in their life, their truly ‘one and only’.
