Something that pisses me off is when I go online and see people saying that Oscar and Roddy are cowards for not actually fighting Criston during episode 6, instead having Alysanne shoot him unceremoniously. Because I feel like they miss the whole point; Criston wanted to die in glorious battle and have his name sung in songs as this great warrior but the death they gave him deprived him off that! That’s the point! Criston wanted to be remembered as a hero who died fighting but he was given no final epic battle for ages to be remembered by, he was just another corpse
Besides the whole concepts of Oscar and Roddy being cowards because they wouldn’t fight him in a 2v1, is also stupid. Criston is an excellent fighter with plenty of experience, there’s no doubt of that but I do doubt that Oscar and Roddy would be able to beat him in a 2v1. Oscar is like 16 and doesn’t really have that much experience and Roddy is an old man, I love them both but I don’t think they’d win in a fight against him. And they probably know that. That’s not cowardice, that’s knowing your limits; it’s like I know I can’t beat Batman in a fight so I’m not gonna challenge Batman to a fight! It’s as simple as that. They are also leaders of major fighting forces in the war, why throw their lives away unnecessarily just for a hated enemy’s dignity?
Sorry if this is incoherent rambling, it just annoys (and entertains) me sometimes.
