New Year's Ikebana
Sort of a new year piece in advance, because I'm moving during the holidays and this is the last painting I'll be able to complete and post before 2024 comes around :) It's a bittersweet end of the year for me, but 2023 was rich and eventful, and I'm grateful to have found my home in the world 🇩🇰 Thank you all for your continued support ❤️
New doll in my collection! 🩷
I've actually had the kimono forever, but could never find the right doll for it... until yesterday! She is the 2025 Barbie Basics, Model 01, with the Kit face sculpt, wearing the 1996 Oshogatsu Happy New Year Barbie outfit.

Kadomatsu Making
So I made my own Kadomatsu 🎍門松🎍, which is a common decoration during the New Year, to welcome in Toshigami-sama. They're placed in pairs representing male and female at the front doors to homes and businesses. The 3 main motifs are bamboo, pine, and plum blossoms which represent prosperity, longevity, and steadfastness.
I made mine out of cardboard. I forgot to mirror the bamboo parts so I decided to make the plum branches the mirrored element instead.
