Curious Prime, Day 19, Part 5

I don't plan to make Anna a criminal this time round but if she leads me that way I won't argue... a lot of kids beat up teddy bears, right? It's normal, well-adjusted behaviour, right...?

These two made best friends over a very long dinner. I don't know whether something was glitching, but they must've been eating for hours, their hunger bars ended up full but they never finished the plates. No one did, actually - I made them stop when their hunger bars were full. Or maybe I just don't have much patience...

I'm pretty sure Tessie asked Osiris for homework help first and he said ask Penny or Pascal. Tessie's closer to Penny, but she was in the bath at the time, so Pascal it was!

I love red hands!

Pascal: So, how was school, in the end?

Tessie: Scary... but okay. I don't really want to go back... but I will.

Time for Rudy to have a bath!

Curious Prime, Day 19, Part 4

Penny reckons if you're stupid enough to mess around with industrial glue, you can take the financial hit for it - her client was lucky to get his medical expenses covered!

The kids brought some familiar faces home from school!

Everyone had low fun, so there was a lot of red hands going on.

Promotion!

The kids brought Child Anna Graham and Child Dot Matrix home from school, but no one really hand any time for them. Katherine wants to make friends with Dot now, though.

Curious Prime, Day 19, Part 2

Osiris: What's all the fuss about, my Daisy baby?

Pascal: Fancy an early lunch, Osiris? I can heat up some spaghetti for us.

Osiris: Sure - thanks.

Osiris: I hope Tessie's okay. It's a lot for her, starting school... she had a dream last night, about being alone in a strange white place... even though she was too little to remember Circe's lab, her body remembers it...

Osiris wanted to make friends with Skye, so we invited him over.

Pascal should make friends with his father-in-law, before it's too late.

Osiris almost didn't make it to the curb to meet Tessie on time, but he just made it.

Penny and Pascal both had to work, but Pascal had seven vacation day, so took one to stay home with Osiris and Daisy. I don't know when Penny and Pascal will be happy to leave Osiris home alone - maybe once Daisy's in school.

Curious Prime, Day 17, Part 8

Osiris: I was wondering what you'd think of me paying to build an extra bedroom upstairs for Tycho, so the baby could have his room? Tycho could help design it, so he wouldn't feel pushed out.

Pascal: I think that sounds like a great idea.

Penny: Tessie needs to keep her own space, and this way you can have both your children near you, but all have your own space.

Osiris: Hey, Tycho. How would you feel about having a new bedroom - upstairs, near your parents and your sisters? You could choose the paint or the wall paper, and get new furniture or new posters.

Tycho: Yeah! And then the new baby could have my old room. That's a great idea, Uncle Osiris! Can I really choose everything for it?

Osiris: Of course!

Second pop!

Osiris: Goodnight, baby.

Osiris: I love you so much.

I rolled a dice to see whether and when Tessie would wake up with nightmares - 1 to 5 she would wake up at that hour in the morning, 6 she'd sleep through - and it was a six, which is just as well, as Osiris really needed the sleep!

At the end of the day, I built a new bedroom upstairs for Tycho. They almost have a full second storey up there now.

The baby will be born right at the start of next rotation - just before the school bus comes! We'll see how Tessie takes it and whether she can manage school as well. I think she'll probably want to stay home with Osiris and the new baby.

Curious Prime, Day 17, Part 6

Promotion!

Katherine: Mummy! I missed you!

Tessie: Hi, Rudy!

Katherine: What are you making?

Penny: Salmon, in a-

Katherine: My tummy's not really hungry now.

Penny: That's okay - you don't have to eat when you're not hungry. I'll save yours and you can have it later when you're hungry.

Katherine: Can't I have ice cream later?

Penny: After your dinner, sure.

Penny: You not hungry, Tess?

Tessie: Yes, but I sit with Daddy. I eat later.

Tycho: So will your tummy get as big as a beach ball? Auntie Crystal's got a baby in her tummy and it's huge!

Tessie: It's gonna have its own toys and its own cereal and its own bed.

Pascal: Do you think he can do this?

Penny: Osiris? Yeah. He's tough - he's had to be. He'll need our support, of course, but that's what we're here for. Tessie seems to be adjusting okay, but she'll be starting school around the same time the baby's born and I'm sure that's going to be hard.

Curious Prime, Day 17, Part 1

Tessie: Daddy? You okay?

Osiris: I... I'm fine, baby.

Katherine: Did Daddy really go up in a rocket like Uncle Osiris, and that's how Tycho was born?

Penny: Yes. Well, technically, a UFO, not a rocket. And that's how Tycho was concieved, not born. He was born nine months later, right here in this house.

Katherine: So does Uncle Osiris have a baby in his belly?

Penny: I don't know...

Maia: ... and we can catch fish and maybe even cook them and eat them! What do you think?

Tessie: ... I don't know...

Maia: My daddy will be there and you can stay right by him the whole time. And I'll look after you too, cuz I'm big and you're little - I'm eight and you're four, which means I'm double as big as you!

Osiris feels rough. Maybe he should just go back to bed.

Tessie's not sure about going to the Fishing Hole with Uncle Pascal and the other girls. What about Daddy? Will he be safe if she leaves him behind?

Osiris doesn't feel up to a trip out. He'd go for Tessie's sake, if he thought it was in her best interests, but she's got to start school soon, so maybe a short trip out with familiar people is a good stepping stone for her.

Atop Curious hill, Penny went to work, but Pascal took a vacation day. It's possible that on a school day, Osiris would be here by himself, but he can't expect him to look after himself and four young children, all on his own.

All the girls and Pascal wanted to fish, so Pascal planned a trip to the Fishing Hole, whilst Osiris stayed home with Tycho.

Curious Prime, Day 16, Part 9

Penny: I've got her, Osiris.

Tessie: No! Mine!

Osiris: I... It's okay, Tessie.

Tessie: You went!

Osiris: ... I did... I'm back now...

Tessie: I shouted "Daddy!". You didn't come!

Osiris: I'm so sorry, baby.

Tessie: They took you in the sky?

Osiris: Yes.

Tessie: They hurt you?

Osiris: I... They made my body feel bad. But I'm safe now. I came back.

Tessie: You won't go again.

Osiris: .... If something tries to take me again... I'll tell you first. And Penny and Pascal will always be here to help.

Tessie: Daddy?

Osiris: Right here, baby.

Osiris: You... you changed your clothes?

Tessie: Penny found these clothes. They're big. They don't bite.

Osiris: Gotcha.

Tessie: Daddy sad.

Osiris: I'm okay. I missed you, when I was gone. But I'm back now.

Tessie: My new bed's big.

Osiris: It is. Do you like it?

Tessie: Will you fit?

Osiris: Yes, if you want me to.

Tessie: Yes.

And they fall asleep holding hands, leaving Osiris wondering who's looking after who.

He wakes up in the middle of the night, probably from a nightmare. He can't sleep anymore, but he won't go far. He knows Tessie needs to see him as soon as she wakes up.

And here was me thinking the big event at the end of this day was going to be Osiris showing Tessie her new room - hot air balloon wallpaper to make her feel like she's outside; a hanging chair she can curl up in; soft lighting, including a cat nightlight that's always left on; warm colours with no harsh clinical white; and a double bed so he can sleep next to her if she has nightmares.

I don't know if Osiris has already joined the dots that he's going to have another baby. He's not due until early the rotation after next, so he and Tessie will have some processing time. I need to figure out where to put another baby, though...

Curious Prime, Day 16, Part 7

Tessie: Daddy?

Tessie: Daddy?!

Tessie: DADDY!?!?!?!

Tycho: Tessie, what's wrong?

Tessie: Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

Penny: Shh, sweetheart. It's going to be okay-

Tessie: Where's Daddy?

Penny: He had to go away for a little bit. He'll be back before bedtime.

Tessie: ... Promise?

Penny: I promise, Tess. Shh, you're okay. ... How about we get you a bath so you're all clean and ready for bed when Daddy gets back?

Tessie: You stay here.

Penny: I'm not going anywhere, Tess.

Tessie: I want Daddy!

Penny: I know, darling. I'm sure he'll be back soon.

Tessie: A noise! Daddy!

Tessie, of course, was very frightened when she heard a loud noise and then couldn't find Daddy.

The party was just breaking up as Osiris got abducted, and someone must have seen something, because Penny and Pascal seemed to know what had happened.
