You wouldn't happen to know where i could find out about bug species without it being, yknow, about exterminating them? I want to learn about wasp species and look at the different morphogies but wikipedia isn't much use and, well, i'm sure you know how it is when you try to research insects with joy in your heart and every option is "KILL THESE ANIMALS FOR NO REASON"

Wikipedia is always a good starting point. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you can find scientific papers the article uses for a source.

You can learn more details about morphology just by using Google Image Search and adding "anatomy" to your search term.

Google Scholar while searching the scientific name for the wasp group is always the best bet, of course. To unlock papers, just look up Sci-Hub on Google for the current URL.

Also, Bug Guide and iNaturalist are very good sources for cool insect images!

AAAAAAAAHHHHH YEAHHHHH THAT IS A FUN AND FASCINATING THING ISN’T IT.

the first thing i did when creaturing him was look up what specific types of teeth do and like. i knew to some extent that an animal’s teeth are suited to their diet. but they seriously evolved scissor teeth. this is just a thing a lot of carnivores have. shout out to carnassials. what the hell.

but yeah carnivores straight up don’t have teeth for grinding like omnivores and herbivores do. best they’ve got is bone-crushing premolars and that’s literally not the same thing. and raw meat takes way too long to chew to the level that humans usually do their food. it’s a little wild to think about.

also just the other ways that different animals’ bodies are adapted to their diet? like this feels so obvious but yeah physiology entirely determines diet. can you chew it? can you digest it? is it what your body needs? your body determines this. you don’t get to choose.

i think my absolute favorite thing i made was a birthday present for carmela one year.... it wasnt the most polished thing but i made her a little Zone in unity with a telescope that let her go stargazing but all the constellations had little birthday messages from our friends in them...........
