Bone devil from RPGA News (Polyhedron) 3, November 1981 -- By Jeff Dee, closely following Dave Trampier’s Monster Manual design with the lacy insect pattern of the wings and the bone hook's serrations and knuckle-like joint The bone devil’s wings were a source of debate for years since Trampier’s AD&D Monster Manual illustration shows wings, but the stats say no fly speed, it has the fly spell instead, and Sutherland’s “A Paladin in Hell” shows no wings. Most subsequent editions omitted the wings but they officially returned in 5e.

Daily Art & Lore 015: Osyluth⠀ (read more) ...⠀ ⠀ The Osyluth - also called a Bone Devil - is a gaunt-looking devil. They are the taskmasters and interrogators of the devils, acting as law-enforcement throughout the Nine Hells. Their very presence inspires dread due to their love of inflicting physical and mental suffering on both mortals and devils alike.⠀ ⠀ Osyluths stand over 9ft tall with dry, sickly skin that seem tautly stretched over every bone in their body. Despite being 500lb creatures, their frames are incredibly gaunt husks so emaciated that they seem skeletal. Their tails are those of giant scorpions while their heads are menacing skulls. The putrid stench of rot surrounds their fearsome forms.⠀ ⠀ Osyluths are capable of exuding an aura of fear within a 5 ft (1.5 m) radius of themselves. Their other innately magical abilities allow them to fly, turn themselves invisible, craft powerful illusions and create a wall of ice. When outnumbered, Osyluths can cleverly use their wall of ice to divide groups. ⠀ ⠀ They are also capable of summoning somewhere between 1-100 nupperibos, or up to two other Osyluths.⠀ ⠀ Challenge Rating: 9⠀ ⠀ #devil #osyluth #bonedevil #jaytaro⠀ .⠀⠀ Get access to 100+ badass tokens for your tabletop adventures: link in bio⠀~⠀ ⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ #dnd #dndmonster #dndart #dnd5e #dndmonsterart #ilovefantasyart #dungeonsanddragons #dungeonsanddragonsart #rpgmonster #rpgart #pathfinder #fantasy #creature #creaturedesign #monsterart #fantasyart https://www.instagram.com/p/CCopqyJD_Xq/?igshid=ebsaw1tak50b
OSYLUTH AND SOULTRAP #OSYLUTH #SOULTRAP the syluth, or Bone Devil, seemed like a natural subject for a guy like me, what with my unnatural fascination with skulls and bones and demonic beings and such.
