11/12/16 - Equine Affaire Standardbred Breed Demo I was very pleased that Rosey went into the arena without a problem. She hasn’t been any space like that before and she went around quietly even though there were lots of people in the stands watching and cheering. She got a little exuberant in her jumping and the jumps were definitely set lower than I had asked for, but overall she was really super and I was very proud of her <3
My horse, the undercover llama.
The biggest surprise of that competition was probably my off track standardbred winning first place in a jumping competition. It was an itty bitty cross competition, but this is a horse that nobody believed in. I was told so many times to get rid of him. That he’s a useless good for nothing stallion.
My middle finger salutes you.
I’m the proudest. My OTSTB learning to jump was more or less a side project because while he never stops, he never stops, meaning he would run towards a jump regardless if he’d fall face first or not. It happened once over a cavaletti pole, we fell and he scraped his knees like a child. He had the grace of a dying whale.
I’ve been further working on getting his topline stronger and now that he also put on some real nice weight, I figured we could just try a few small jumps. And boy, did he surprise me. This might be a tiny jump, but for me it’s a massive step forward.
