What would be wrong with having this. Does it violate the hand poured method that seems to be so desirable by connoisseurs? I've been to some upscale coffee shops that use the hand pouring method and I can't help but wonder how this would be received.

Chemex Ottomatic Coffee Brewer

The Ottomatic dropped today out of absolutely nowhere. My initial feelings are that of confusion and sadness. 

Chemex is the most beautiful and romantic way to prepare coffee, and having a strange shower-esque device reign over this timeless piece of art is a bit strange. Very much the idea of a Modbar but in a form for home consumption. It looks nice, but if you want well prepared coffee at home without the effort, there are plenty of other methods to utilize. 

Props to the Chemex folks for a beautiful design, but it's not for me.
