The Jesus and Mary Chain invade America, performing their very first US show at Danceteria in NYC, April 5, 1985, as captured by Greg Fasolino.
Though describing the band in his fanzine "Heaven Down Here” as “arrogant, abusive, loud & sloppy”, his encounter with JAMC as “an exercise in how to annoy an audience” and their noise-rock as “music for masochists”, his conclusion was that he loved it and enjoyed the way they tormented the audience.
This being New York, one can safely assume that If the JAMC could make it there, they could make it anywhere. And they did.
