"Lineage" ... 30 x 40 acrylic on canvas. This piece was created for Tmbuktu da Poet. Lineage is one of my favorite pieces and it represents the importance of fatherhood. I often try to destroy the negative stereotypes that are put out there about my culture and in this creation I chose to emphasize the lines to reinforce the importance of your Lineage. Many of you may not know this but I was adopted at birth by a loving couple with the last name of Artis. Neither one of my adoptive parents were artistic but they always kept me surrounded by extremely cultured and creative people and for that I'm so thankful. I've always felt that if you're blessed with a gift it's your responsibility to share it with the world. So with this piece I salute all the real fathers out, keep doing what you're doing!
