Cowboys & Monsters Part 3
7 Years Later
“It’s my pleasure to once again award my two finest detectives in my command. Please give a round of applause for my son Johnathan “Cap” Walker and my adoptive son Rhett “Cowboy” Abbott.” Chief Walker said. The crowd started to applaud as they came up onto stage and stood near the Chief. “These two fine gentlemen have yet again gone above and beyond the call of duty in order to do their part to keep this beautiful city safe. Thanks to them they were able not only reunite five families with their long lost loved ones, they were able to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. It is my greatest honor to bestow you both with the Medal of Honor.”
The crowd cheered as the Chief placed the medals on their uniforms. The Chief saluted them and they saluted him back. The crowd continued to cheer as they started taking pictures. Once everything was said and done, they headed to a well known cop bar for a round of drinks. As Rhett and Walker shake hands with their fellow coworkers and admire, two familiar faces walk in. They looked over at the door, seeing Maria and Tracy looking over at them with a smile on their faces.
“Dude, every single damn time.” Walker said, shaking his head. “It’s like the smell of medals on us.”
“It’s funny how Andrew made those two best friends.” Rhett said.
“Well that asshole made us best friends too, I guess he did something right.” Walker said. He looked past them seeing who was coming in. “Incoming.” The woman shoved her way right between Maria and Tracy, almost knocking them over. Rhett and Walker started laughing. “Dude, I never get tired of seeing her do that.”
“Man, Ava is ruthless.” Rhett said as she walked over to them.
“It’s because my wifey gives zero fucks.” Walker said, smiling as she walked up to them. “Hey you.” He gave her a hug and a kiss. “I missed you at the ceremony.”
“I got held up at work. Plus, it's not like there won’t be another one with the way you two close cases.” Ava said, smiling. “Hey Rhett, mind if I steal my husband for a moment?”
“By all means steal him away,” Rhett said. “Just wash him before you return him, he always smells like sex when you bring him back.” He smiled.
“Don’t get jealous Rhett.” Ava said with a smirk. “It’s not our fault that no one wants to save a horse and ride a cowboy.”
He chuckled. “That’s fucked up.” Rhett said.
“We’ll be back.” Walker said and Rhett nodded his head. He took Ava’s hand and they started heading to the back. “Why are you stealing me away?”
“Because we are on a schedule.” Ava said, stopping by the men’s bathroom. “Or did you forget what time my ovulation peaks?” She grabbed a hold of his tie and yanked him down towards her. “I want you to put that baby in me right here, right now.”
He smirked. “Oooo I love it when you talk dirty.” Walker said. She stepped into the bathroom and pulled him inside with her. “Oh shit.” The door slammed shut behind them.
“Those two I swear man,” Rhett said, smiling as he shook his head. He took a seat at the bar and ordered another shot of whiskey, and the bartender left him the bottle. “Thanks Mark.”
“Is this seat taken?” Maria said.
“Yep.” Rhett said as he kept his eyes forward.
“Come on Rhett, it’s been over seven years now.” Maria said, taking a seat next to him. “When are you going to let this go and forgive me already?”
“When I feel like it,” Rhett said and he took a drink. “And I don’t feel like it.”
“Rhett,” Maria said, she put her hands on his and he moved his hand. “Can you at least look at me.”
“What do you want, Maria?” Rhett said, looking over at her. “Seriouly? What the fuck do you want?”
“Well for starters,” Maria said. “I want you to forgive me.”
“For what Maria?” Rhett said. “For cheating on me? For you trying to blame me for your cheating? For you trying to be slick and weasel your way back into my life after Andrew cheats on your ass, and leaves you for Tracy? For representing all those sons of bitches me and Walker put away? For trying to drag my name and Walker's name through the mud during court to try and get your clients off the hook?” She looked down. “Or for breaking my fucking heart and shitty all over it? As you can tell you have to narrow down exactly what you want to be forgiven for.” He looked forward again. “Just fuck off Maria.”
“I just really miss you Rhett.” Maria said as she looked over at him. “I miss us.”
“Well you had your chance Maria.” Rhett said and he looked back over at her. “You had a chance over seven years ago but you chose to fuck someone else and divorce me.”
“That was a mistake.” Maira said. “I never should have made it.”
“Are you sure it was a mistake?” Rhett said. “Because you kept fucking Andrew for 4 months. 4 fucking months Maria, you were fucking him. That wasn’t a mistake, that was fucking goddman choose. Now, you got to fucking live with it.”
She sighed and looked down. “I know I screwed up Rhett, I screwed up really bad. It’s just,” Maria said and she looked back up at him. “I only ever been with Brian before I got with you. I just felt like… like I was missing out. Then when we started drifting,”
“You started drifting, not me,” Rhett said, and he shook his head. “Not me.”
“I just wanted to see what else was out there.” Maria said.
“Then you should never have said yes when I asked you to marry me.” Rhett said, he looked forward again. “But of course you said yes because I was your ride out here and I was going to help pay for half of everything. So I’m sure that’s why you said fucking yes to marrying me. Then Andrew came around and you two started fucking, then you moved in with him. Yeah that’s really seeing what’s out there. Oh wait, you did see what’s out there because after you and Tracy found out about each other, you two moved in together after she kicked Andrew out.” He turned to her. “Then you and Tracy started scissoring for a while. Not to mention all those dicks you were riding I got told about and all those kitty cats you were playing with. So now what? Now you're ready to settle down after you got it all out of your system?”
“You acted like you didn’t sleep around after we divorce.” Maria said, she leaned in closer to him “I heard how you had a few threesomes and were sleeping around quite a bit, Rhett.”
“After we divorce,” Rhett said, he glared at her. “The keyword is after. You,” he pointed at her, “fucked someone when we married.” He leaned back. “And mind you, I didn’t fuck anyone till several months after you left.” He looked forward. “Your lucky I’m not a completely fucking asshole otherwise I would tell all your lawyer buddies and judges about your sex capades. I’m sure the city’s district attorney would love to use that in court against you and you get to feel what it’s like to get your name dragged through the mud. Now for the last time Maria, fuck off.”
“Rhett, please.” Maria said. “I just want to talk about us and see if we can,”
“Oh my god lady, enough is enough.” She said. They looked over to the woman next to Maria, whose face they couldn’t see because her hair was in the way and was looking forward. “He asked you to leave several times. We both know if it was the other way around you would be filming this and screaming bloody murder, then post it all over Tiktok. So do us both a favor, because I’m sick of you being here as much as him at this point, and just fuck off.”
“You don’t know the whole story.” Maria said. “I only cheated because,”
“You tripped and landed on Andrew’s dick, I heard.” She said and Rhett started laughing. “Look Maria, I know what you're doing, you're backtracking. After all the girls and guys you went though, you realize how empty and alone you really are. You also realize no one loved you and treated you as good as he did. So now that you are out of your hoe phase and want to settle down, you want to trip and land on Rhett’s dick again.” Rhetted chuckled as he shook his head. “So please Maria, please, just fuck off already and leave him alone. If you don’t I swear I’ll grab you by your hair and drag you out my goddamn self.”
Maria scoffed as she got up and walked off. “Thanks, I appreciate it.” Rhett said, watching as Maria and Tracy left. “After all these years, I don’t know why she keeps coming back.”
“She’s doing it so you won’t move on.” She said he looked over at her as she kept her eyes forward. “As long as she keeps doing this song and dance with you, she’ll always leave rent free in your head. You won’t ever truly be able to move on because of it. She’ll keep doing this till you break and take her back. Do you want some advice?”
“Sure,” Rhett said, nodding his head.
“Forgive her.” She said. “Not so she can feel better about herself, because fuck that bitch.” He chuckled weakly. “But do it so you can move on with your life. Because doing your own sex capades isn’t going to help you move on.” He nodded his head as he looked forward. “And I’m not saying forgive her right now or to her face or even in a text message.” He looked back over at her. “When you're ready to move on, look at yourself in the mirror and forgive her. And then forgive yourself for holding on to the pain and anger. Believe me Rhett, life is too short to hold on to something like that. Or you can do what I do to let things out, sing a song and smash a guitar like your some fucking rock star,” they both laugh a bit. “You’ll feel better after you do.” The bartender got her another class of scotch. “Here,” She sat the glass near him. “Scotch is better to draw out your sorrows than whiskey.”
“Thanks.” Rhett said, smiling as he took the glass. “What’s your name?” He felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned to see Walker, his uniformed messed up and a big smile on his face. “Oh someone got fucking laid.” He chuckled. “Where’s Ava?”
“In the bathroom, trying to learn to walk again.” Walker said and they both chuckle. “So anything interesting happened while I was gone?”
“Yeah,” Rhett said, nodding his head. “Maria came over and was bugging the shit out of me again. But lucky for me,” he smiled. “This girl right here,” he motioned his head behind him. “Got her to fuck off.”
“Girl?” Walker said, raising an eyebrow. “What girl are you talking about?”
”The one right here,” Rhett said, he turned and saw an empty seat with a fifth thrown down by two empty glasses. “Where did she go?” He looked around, seeing she was nowhere in sight. “Uh,” he smiled and shook his head. “Who was that girl?”
3 Years Later:
For the past couple of months a serial killer has been running around New York. They have been using venom to neutralize their victims. Afterwards, while their victims are still alive they slice into them. But not only that, they found several chunks of flesh gone in the shape of a mouth. That’s when they knew this serial killer was not only torturing and killing their victims but eating them. The whole city was in uproar and on high alert because of this Hannibal Lecture wannabe. Rhett and Walker were assigned to the case and had been running around the city looking for any sort of lead. It didn't matter if it was a long short, they took it in hopes they would find their killer.
When they kept coming up empty they hit the underground and explored the tunnels of the city. They went to those that walk around but go unseen, the homeless. When they spoke to every homeless person that was willing to talk to them. They came across several men that saw the killer when they were in the middle of eating their victims. They all gave out a description which all matched up with each other. They had also spotted the killer in the same spot, a construction site in the middle of the night when it’s raining. Just like Rhett thought, they were all killed somewhere else and bodies dumped far from the killer’s hunting ground. Now they were sitting in an unmarked car, bullshiting while it was pouring outside and they waited for their serial killer to appear.
“Looks like Ava finally got Wyatt to go to sleep.” Walker said, showing Rhett the picture. “The little guy has been raising hell lately.”
“That's why they call it the trouble twos.” Rhett said
“Trouble twos is an understatement. Your godson is a menace to society." Walker said, Rhett chuckled as Walker put his phone away. “Alright, time for a new subject.”
“Okay,” Rhett said. “Like what?”
“Hmm,” Walker said and he smiled. “First time you did something sexual with a girl.”
“What?” Rhett said, he started chuckling.
“Yeah,” Walker said, chuckling as he picked up his coffee. “We never swamped our first times before, might as well do that now.” He took a drink and sat the coffee down. “So, what did you do, where did you do it, with whom and how old were you two?”
“Alright,” Rhett said as he thought about it. “I got my first hand job and it was in the movie theater with Katie Miller. We were both 13.”
He chuckled. “Nice.” Walker said.
“What about you man?” Rhett said.
“Oh I can’t say,” Walker said, shaking his head. “Ava will sense it and when I get home she’s going to kick my ass.”
He chuckled. “Come on Cap,” Rhett said, smiling. “You made me tell you, so now you have to.”
“Nope,” Walker said, shaking his head again.
“Don’t be a pussy man,” Rhett said.
“You know what they say?” Walker said, grinning. “You are what you eat.”
“Man,” Rhett said and he started chuckling. “Come on, you got to tell me. I promise I won’t tell Ava.”
“Better not,” Walker said. “Otherwise I’m shooting you in the face. That is if she hasn’t killed me first.”
He chuckled. “Come on Cap,” Rhett said, nudging him. “Say it.”
“Alright, alright.” Walker said, letting out a sigh. “I was 16 and she was 14. We actually did all the bases.”
“Even fifth base?” Rhett said, with a smirk.
“Dude,’ Walker said, “There’s no such thing as fifth base.”
“Oh yes there is,” Rhett said. He pulled up his phone and googled it, then showed it to him. “See?”
“Well I be damn, I didn’t know they called it fifth base.” Walker said and Rhett put his phone away. “Okay then we did all the bases except fifth. So you know, we went down on each other and we had sex. It was in her hotel room. And, no idea what her name was.”
‘What?” Rhett said. “You didn’t know her name and she had a hotel room? Man don’t tell me you hired a,”
“No. No. No.” Walker said, shaking his head. “She wasn’t a prostitute or anything like that. She was,” he sighed softly and smiled.
“Are you… are you smiting?” Rhett said and he smiled. “Ooooo you had a thing for this girl.”
“Yeah,’ Walker said, smiling as he nodded his head. “She was my first crush.”
“Okay,” Rhett said, turning to face him. “Now you have to go into details about this chick and what happened between you guys.”
“Fuck me,” Walker said chuckle and shook his head. “Alright.” He turned to Rhett. “So I was working at a summar job in the library where my mom used to work before she retired. One day I was stacking up books in this section we had that were about folklore and mythical beasts. Like Harry Potter shit,” Rhett chuckled a bit. “Which was weird man because no one ever checked out books in that section. I mean ever. So I’m over there stacking them up and here comes this beautiful girl, I mean she was drop dead gorgeous. She had long wavy dark hair, these natural ruby lips, amazing hazel eyes, she was petite and she had curves in all the right places. Perfect girl that couldn’t be real you know.”
“Right.” Rhett said, nodding his head.
“So she comes up and says excuse me. And my dumbass is stuck on stupid while I’m staring at this girl.” Walker said and they both chuckle. “Like I had to be looking at her a creep the way she looked back at me. She just went around me and grabbed what books she needed, and took off. I finally snap out of it and I literally take off running to look for her. I found her in the back area, sitting at a table all by herself. She had newspaper articles, some big ass binder or journal with all these papers coming out of it and all the books spread out and open. She's bouncing back and forth between them like we do when we’re trying to look for something.”
“So what,” Rhett said. “She was searching for some monster?” He chuckled.
“Yeah actually.” Walker said, Rhett gave him a weird look. “It was for history class. She had to do an essay on people’s folklore and their monster beliefs.” Rhett nodded his head. “But I did find it weird she had current news articles with her about the murders my old man and uncle were working on back when they were detectives. I was going to ask her about it, but she gathered up everything and went to the copier. She started printing copies out and I tried asking her name, but she refused to give it to me. I kept trying everything to get her name and nothing.”
“Sounds like she was stubborn like Ava.” Rhett said.
“Believe it or not she was more stubborn than Ava,” Walker said, Rhett chuckled and shook his head. “I'm serious, with Ava it took me a day to get her name. This chick was around for a week and not once would she give me her name. All she said was, she gets home schooled by her brothers because they travel a lot. And there was no point in me knowing her name because I was never going to see her again.”
“Then how did you get her to sleep with you?” Rhett said.
“I didn’t,” Walker said, shaking his head. “It was her idea.”
“What?” Rhett said, looking surprised. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Walker said, nodding her head. “So the day before we did anything, she was leaving the library at closing time. I went outside to throw the trash before I locked up and I saw these dick heads messing with her. I go over there to stop them and she straight up goes Bruc Lee on their asses. Like she’s punching, kicking, damn girl was even doing fucking flips.” They started laughing. “She ends up just beating the breaks off these guys. I’m just standing there, jaw to the floor and eyes wider than a fucking owl’s.” They laugh again. “When she was done, all five of those assholes were busted up and knocked out cold. I asked her who taught her to fight and she said, they did. Next thing I know, this classic car rolled up next to us with two guys in the front.”
“Her brothers.” Rhett said.
“Her brothers.” Walker said, nodding his head. “The one in the driver seat jumps out of it and yells, “Son if I were you I would back away from her right now unless you want to get shot in the face. The other guy is telling him to calm down and she tells him I wasn’t trying to hurt her, that I worked at the library and I was trying to help her out. And that we’ve been talking a bit. He tells her to get in the car and while she’s walking over he scolds her saying she’s only 14 and she shouldn’t be talking to any boys. Just on and on till she gets into the car. And as they're driving off she actually smiles at me, which she never did the whole time I was trying to talk to her.”
“Let me guess,” Rhett said, smiling. “She had a cute smile.”
“Dude, it was beautiful.” Walker said, smiling. “The next day I was coming in, she was standing outside. She thanks me for trying to help her out yesterday and she says she’s sorry for how her big brother was acting. I was trying to be slick and said she could make it up to me by telling me her name and she said no,” he chuckled a bit as he shook his head. “But then she tells me that she was getting sick of how her big brother was acting because he sleeps with a girl in every town they go to. Then she tells me she wants to do something bad to get her big brother pissed off. I’m thinking she wants to get into actual trouble, like tag something or break some shit.”
“But she was talking about sex.” Rhett said.
“Yeah.” Walker said, smirking. “She straight up said nothing more would piss off her big brother than her losing her virginity. Especially if it was to me because of how much shit he gave her about me. She said that if I was up to it and could leave work right now, she had a hotel room that they’ve been staying at and how her brothers wouldn’t be back till that night. So I ran inside and told my mom I got a date with the girl she saw me talking to, but she was only free right now. She said it was fine and she actually gave me her keys so I could use her car. I ran back outside, we drove to the nearest store so I could pick up some condoms and then we went to the hotel room. So we’re just standing there, both of us nervous so I put on some music and I started dancing with her.”
“Aww,” Rhett said, smiling. “Being all romantic and shit.”
‘Fuck you,” Walker said, flipping him off as he smile. “So we’re dancing and eventually we both relax, and I kiss her. I started taking off her clothes and she’s taking off mine. When all the clothes were off I stepped back and I just,” he smiled. “Admire that body of hers. Her breast, fuck, they were huge and round, just perfect. Ass was the same and it was firm. I went down on her and dude, she tasted sweet like candy” Rhett chuckled. "She gave me a blow job and I swear, I don’t know if she was just that good at it or I was that excited or the fact she had no gag reflex but I,”
“Wait,” Rhett said. “She had no gag reflex?”
“None” Walker said, Rhett let out a whistle. “Yeah, it was so amazing I almost came in her mouth.” They both chuckled. “So I stopped her because obviously I’m not throwing in the towel just yet.” Rhett chuckled as he nodded his head. “I picked her up and laid her on the bed and you know, we started having sex. And let you tell you,” he grinned. “The way that girl moved her hips, fuck me, it drove me insane. The sex was just mind blowing. After we were done, we talked for a while. Well more like I talked and she just listened. But she did tell me a few things about herself. She loved classic rock, old western and the old school movies and she read comics. I made a joke and she giggled,” he smiled. “She had such a cute giggle. We ended up having sex again before we came back to the library together. We just kept smiling at each other while I worked and she did her school work. Then before we closed her other brother came in to get her. She smiled and waved bye to me, and took off with him. Next morning I decided I was going to go by the hotel and ask her out on an actual date. I bought her flowers and chocolate.”
“You never bring me flowers or chocolate.” Rhett said with a smirk.
“Shut up,” Walker said and he chuckled. “But when I got there,” his smile faded. “The cleaning lady was turning out her room and I asked her about the girl that was staying there. She said she was just told to clean it and that was it. So I went to the front desk and asked them. He said that her and her brothers checked out first thing in the morning. Then he asked if I was John Walker and I told him yeah, he handed me a note that she left behind. She was saying sorry but her and her brothers were hitting the road again. She said hopefully when she comes back around we can meet up again and she’ll finally tell me her name. Then she drew a little black heart and put the initials M.W. But I,” He sighed. “I never did see her after that.”
“Fuck man,” Rhett said, shaking his head. “I’m sorry Cap. Seems like you had more than a crush on the girl.”
“Yeah,” Walker said, nodding his head. “I think she was more like my first love.” He picked up his coffee as he turned back around. “But at least I got Ava now and little Wyatt Rhett Walker, my two loves of my life. I couldn’t be more happier. So it all worked out in the end.” He took a drink and put his coffee back. “But I always wondered what happened to her. And wonder what the fuck her name was.” They chuckled. “I think that’s what drove me crazy the most. Like, M.W. is all I get after I take her virginity. That’s some bullshit.” They chuckled again as they shook their heads.
“Maybe if the sex was better she would have told you man.” Rhett said Walker smacked him and he chuckled. “I’m just saying man, I’m just saying.” He smirked as turned back around. “Oh shit, Walker look,” he pointed at someone walking by. They were in all black combat boots and black pants, black hoodie with the hood up and black leather jacket over it. Then had a black mask up over their face that went to their nose. “He’s wearing exactly what the witnesses reported. Around the same height and build too.”
“That’s our Hannibal Lecture,” Walker said, nodding his head. “Let’s go and get this sick fuck.”
They got out of the car and started following their suspect at a safe distance. They kept their eyes on him watching how he kept looking around him before ducking into the construction site. They mimicked his movement and went into the construction site as they kept following him. They started hiding behind whatever is nearby so their suspect wouldn’t see them as they continued to follow him. They kept going till they lost sight of him when he went into the structure.
He pulled out his gun. “On me cowboy,” Walker whispered
“Got it Cap,” Rhett whispered as he pulled out his gun.
They nodded their heads and Walker led the way though the poorly light structure. They kept moving and scanning the area for any signs of their suspects. Then they heard movement and metal closing up, then machines making noise. Rhett motioned with his fingers, saying he had eyes on the suspect. Walker looked over to where Rhett was pointing, seeing he was in the elevator and was heading up. Walker looked around and motioned Rhett to the staircase and they made their way over, and started the long climb as the elevator kept going.
Though they were getting tired, they kept going till the elevator finally stopped on the 20th floor. They stopped and leaned up against the railing before heading to the 20th floor. They were taking deep breaths to slow their heart rate back down from the climb. Walker looked at Rhett and nodded his head, and Rhett nodded his head back. They went to the 20th floor and started looking around for their suspect. As they looked around they started to hear sounds, disturbing sounds. They could hear what sounded like crunch and flesh being torn away. They quickly ran towards the sounds and that’s when they saw where the sounds came from. A body laying on the ground with their suspect leaning over it as he ate a piece of flesh they tore from the victim’s neck.
“NYPD!” Walker yelled as they aimed their guns. “HANDS IN THE AIR YOU SICK SON OF A BITCH!” The suspect raised their head and that’s when they saw it wasn’t a man but a woman. But if she could be called that, her hands that held the flesh were long and sharp, like claws. Her teeth were spaced out, but long and sharp, fang like. Her eyes were large and wide. Her pupils were wrong, they weren’t circular but oval, like a snake. “What… the fuck?”
“Are you seeing this Cap?” Rhett said.
“Seeing it,” Walker said and he shook his head. “But I don’t believe it.” She hissed at them and started to run. “FREEZE!” They aimed for her leg and shot, but she kept running. “Go! I’ll check our vic and call it in.” Rhett took off and Walker ran to the man on the ground. “I’m here, I got you.” He grabbed his radio and started calling it in as he wrapped his bandana around the victim's neck. “It’s going to be okay, help is on the way. Just hold on okay? Just…” He sighed when he saw the light left his eyes. “Fuck.” He grabbed his radio. “This is Walker, the victim is deceased. Rejoining prostitute.”
2 Floors Up
“I said fucking freeze!’ Rhett said as he cornered her. She looked behind her, there was no wall, just a beam that stuck out. Then there was a gap and another beam sticking out from the structure across from it. “You have nowhere to go.” She looked back at him. “I want you to put your hands on your head and walk backwards towards me now.” She looked back at the beam and back towards him. “Don’t do it. Don’t you fucking do it.” She smiled as she started walking backwards and onto the beam. “There’s no way you can make that jump.” She turned and ran, “fuck!” He took off running for her and that’s when she slipped, and went off the beam. He gripped the beam with one hand and reached out with the other, taking a hold of her wrist. “I got you. I got you.” He looked down at her, seeing how she looked up close. But with a flash of lighting, she went back to looking completely normal. “What?”
“Please, help me!” She yelled as she started crying. “Help me!”
“Just hold on. Hold on.” Rhett said as he started trying to lift her but the rain was making it hard for him to keep a grip. “WALKER!”
“I’M COMING!” Walker yelled as he finally made it to the floor they were on. “I’M COMING!”
“HURRY I’M LOOSING MY FUCKING GRIB!” Rhett yelled. Slowly she started slipping more and she panicked more. She pleaded for him to pull her up as she started moving around. “Don’t fucking move! Don’t fucking move!” She slipped further down till he only had her fingers in his hand. “No. No. No.” She slipped out of his hand and started falling. “NO!” Walker stood at the edge as they both watched her fall till her body slammed against the pile of beams at the bottom. “Fuck.”
“Rhett!” Walker yelled. He grabbed him and helped pull him off the beam. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah man,” Rhett said, nodding his head as they heard sirens. “I tried to hold on but…” He shook his head and they looked back down at her lifebody. “Cap when I had her… she looked normal.” They looked at each other. “But she’s not. What.. what do we tell them?”
“We don’t tell them shit.” Walker said and Rhett shook his head. “Listen Rhett,” he took a hold of his shoulders. “Are minds had to be fucking with us alright. It’s not like we see people fucking eating each other every day. Plus the lack of sleep and stress, our mind was playing tricks with us.” Rhett shook his head and looked down. “Look at me cowboy,” he looked back up. “There’s no such thing as monsters okay? There’s no such fucking thing.”
“Yeah,’ Rhett said, nodding his head. “You're right,” they looked back down at her as the vehicles pulled up. “There’s no such thing as monsters.”
Cowboys & Monsters Part 4
Note: Normally I do gifs in the story as well, but I think I will add them later when I have more time to edit.

something is looming over Wabang... something sinister...
@sebsxphia I blacked out and when I came around I'd put this together lmao, feeling things for a midwestern gothic horror au... also kind of drew inspiration from Ptolemaea by the looks of it
The year is 1886. Rhett Abbott has a reputation of being a bad seed, none of the men of Wabang finding him suitable for their daughters.
So when you arrive to town, the new schoolmistress, Rhett doesn't quite believe he's good enough for a lady like you. But sometimes the heart speaks louder than reason.
Chapter 1: New in Town
Chapter 2: A helping hand
Chapter 3: Mistakes and forgiveness
Chapter 4: Under the Harvest Moon
Chapter 5: A Good Man
Chapter 6: Breaking New Ground
Chapter 7: A Promise of Forever
Chapter 8: A little of me, a little of you
Notes: I have chosen to call the reader Abigail Miller to avoid y/n. But there will be no description of her appearance.
There will be warning for each chapter, but overall the rating is 18+. There will be adult content in this series.
Despite the mood board suggesting otherwise, my fics are POC and size inclusive.
Summary: "Apocalypse" wasn't on anyone's yearly bingo card. Nationwide evacuations of major cities forced you and your best friend out of central Indiana, and you were told to get to Wabang. You made it, but not without having to overcome obstacles. Staying with the Abbotts proved to be the only option, but Rhett Abbott and all of his problems were the last things you expected to run into, much less spend time with.
Pairing: Rhett Abbott x fem!reader
Content warnings: For the fic - this is a zombie apocalypse AU. There will be dark themes and descriptions. Gore, violence, death, angst, enemies-to-lovers, eventual smut. There will be more specific warnings in individual chapters.

Ever since he proposed to Milla, Rhett just could never stop smiling and staring at her when he would visit her. Whether it was baking together or just hanging out at her apartment and dancing to the records, Rhett’s attention and focus, and hands at times, were solely on Milla. He knew that his future would always be like this and he wouldn’t change it for anything else.
First of all, 400 of you beautiful he/she/they/them’s from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU♥️
