For jobs, i also recommend keeping a folder for each job you apply to with the cover letter and resume you sent AND the job description. I found when i was applying to a lot of jobs, I'd forget what each one was specifically when I'd get a call back. Plus if you get a call, you can use the job description to parrot the language they use which helps in interviews and stuff!
