He’s dating me even outside the camp
"You shall have a place outside the camp, and you shall go out to it. Because the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, so that he may not see anything indecent among you and turn away from you." Deuteronomy 23:12,14
You see how God anticipated every area where sin might peek in? Through God’s wisdom, He saw where we’ll be weak and strong, where we’ll be attacked and where we’ll need extra protection. And I love this about God, knowing even the smallest, tiniest details of my life.
In the book of Deuteronomy, I am amazed to realize how He warned His beloved people, giving them a yellow signal before they even ask about all these “What ifs”. He knew beforehand that we were human and we are vulnerable and we are prone to mistakes & sins. And despite of this truth, He covers us in His mercy and grace. He covers us with His love by simply saying, “you have a place out there my child, go out for a while, ponder your sin, reflect, repent, and be cleansed -- then you may come back.”
This means a lot to me, because at first I thought it was a form of punishment, banishing me from His sight. Until I saw that outside the camp isn’t far from His presence, instead, is a place of solitude with Him. Outside the camp is a quiet time with God where He gives me an opportunity to be cleansed through Him. He’s not separating us from the crowd just because we were sinful, but because He wanted a 1-on-1 moment with us to keep us back on track.
